How common is punishment for masterbation?

I've read many postings stating that many people in their teens were whipped on punished in other ways by their parents.

Also here is a video of a man who was forcible circumcised, without pain killers, at the age of 8 at a religious school in Canada for pleasuring himself.

not common at all,and down right perverse of anyone to do such a thing. punishing someone for masturbating is like punishing someone for breathing or going to the bathroom.

Rare, it's very natural, even some birds and animals do it when they can't mate!!! There are still some old fashion people that will tell you it harmfull and all kinds of other stuff. NOBODY SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR WHAT COMES NATURAL!!

it depends on your environment - in fundamental religious countries such as Muslim and Catholicism I imagine it is very common whereas in western societies it is becoming less common
