There were fat people in the sixties.

I think it has a lot to do with fast food. Back in the 60's and 70's fast food wasn't as abundant as it is now. Now there is a fast food restaurant on every street. People tend to take the easy way out. Instead of going home and cooking a healthy dinner for the family, they pick up something quick and easy. This, along with all the additives, and hormones that are being added to the food we eat these days.

Well there were oveweight people--society just didn't zone in on like they do now---but yes the fact that more people eat out now and not as healthy certainly plays into it. Back then people sat and had somewhat decent meals and they ate together as families and played together as families. But yes there were still some overweight1

there were fat people back then, but I agree that fast food has made more people fatter than ever. people didn't go out to eat as much either. eating in a restaurant was a big deal.

they cooked at home. mind you they ate unhealthy stuff but they worked it off and exercised it off. And their natural stuff was natural not processed. now we do the hamburger helper from the box they did it from scratch.

they did not live @ fast food restuarants. that was a "special' treat or because from traveling, not an everyday thing.

Many, many reasons...portions were much smaller...a Coke bottle was tiny...now they are massive. Little things like garage door openers, remote controls, self-propelled mowers, sitting in front of TV's and computers, diet, eating out more etc, etc.

there was no such thing as stupid fast food joints!!!
That's why....today people don't know when to stop eating or how to cook healthy...so basically most of the American population is over weight.

They ate less fast food and processed food. So even though they ate cookies for example, they were home made cookies. Processed food is so bad for you, better to eat home made!!
