My wife asked me - and both us would consider ourselves to be "traditional". I gladly and proudly re-tell the story to anyone who asks about how we got engaged. That was over 10 years ago - so probably less common then. I thought it took alot of guts ... she beat me by about 3 months. If your confident in your relationship, then I say ... go for it.

excuse me but, where is it written that the man has to do the asking?????....I see no reason why you cant ask him......hey, even have a ring too.....why not???? you go with your feelings and do what will make you happy.....but, in the same token, be ready for rejection...it could happen.......good luck to you....email me if he accepts.....

I think its the mans job, but i am traditional. If i were you i would drop hints, very specific hints so he can always remember that he asked you.
