My brother tells my I am a racist because I don't date girls from other ethnic groups. I personally have nothing against interracial relationships, and in fact my father's parents are from different ethnicities. I consider it just as a matter of choice and taste. I, like any other human being, have the right to choose the type of girls I want to date.

Thank you all for your answers. I have to explain one thing. I have many friends from other ethnic groups and I deeply respect them. I would never judge them based on their colors or languages. And if the girl I am talking to on line appears to be different it would be ok with me. I might continue with her as a friend, just a friend.

no that doesn't make you a racist. Not necessarily the most open-minded person in the world, but we all have our taste, you should not date women from other ethnic groups JUST to prove you are not a racist so date who you want.

As long as the reason that your not dating any girls from other ethinc groups isn't just because they're of a different ethnicity. Otherwise, it is racist to judge someone that of course they will be and behave a certain way just because they're from a particular ethnic group. Everyone's different, and you can find two girls from different ethnic groups that are exactly the same in their choices, actions, and beliefs However, I do think it's entirely possible to just be attracted, or at least mostly so, to girls of just your own race without being racist. Racism has to do with commiting acts of violence or bigotry. Prejudice, however, is when you've already decided that someone is going to be a certain way before you get to know them personally.

i dont think that's racist at all. Just like dating a person 20 years older or younger than u is agist. You definetly have the ability to choose. Because it concerns you. You're aloud to "discriminate" about your own choices. you pick up cheetos from the store. Does that mean u discriminate against doretos? No, u just prefer cheetos. Same way.
Racism is treating a person unfairly because of their race. I am sure, by the way you put it, you are not racist, u r just attracted to people of your own ethnic group. Just as i am attracted to girls with black hair. I am not really attracted to girls with red hair. Discriminate? no. I give everyone a chance based on their personality, as i am sure you do too. If u met a really cool mexican oriented girl (i am just guessing you are not mexican oriented, and i don't mean to offend anyone here), and u start to like her way of thinking, i think that her ethnic orientation would not matter. But the fact of the matter is, in most cases (unless its online chatting) it is appearance that makes the impression first. Then the personality comes into play. In a way, perhaps we're all discriminating. But i think its mainly just what our heart decides.

I don't think just because you prefer your own race to date it makes you racist. As long as you think of them as equals and don't mind what others want to date. My sister had 5 kids from an interracial relationship and I don't have a problem with it. When it comes to dating I would prefer my own race. However, if I met someone in a different race and I liked them I would still date them! Well I'm married so I guess I should say I would have.

Your brother needs to look the word racist up in the dictionary. I have had and still do have allot of friends of all colors. One in particular I consider as a best friend. However, I personally have always rejected the idea of myself being involved romantically with another race for one reason and one reason only... That reason is that in today's society, mixed children are not well accepted and consequently receive criticism and are therefore deprived of a normal childhood. This is something that I wouldn't subject a child to. Otherwise, dating outside of my race just to have a friend to do something with, in my opinion is fine. Just my opinion.

Yes you absolutely do have the right to choose. It's your preference. It's not that you wouldn't ever date someone from a different ethnicity just b/c of the color of there skin.

Just because you don't date girls from other ethnic groups doesn't mean you're racist. To each his own.
Stick to your guns. Date who you feel comfortable with and don't let anyone make you feel you are wrong in your choices.

As long as you don't have feelings of dislike / hate for other ethnic groups, then you are not racist. You can date whomever you want. If a certain race is not your "type" then so be it.

I myself tend to shy away from fat, lazy, ugly women - that doesn't make me racist or biased - its just MY preference.

I'm sure there are men out there that enjoy fat, lazy, ugly women - I just don't KNOW any of them :)

The tag racist is tossed about way too much - you have every right to choose who you date and who you don't - you are not racist, at the very worst you are "picky". Who you find attractive is just that - tell your brother to take a long walk on a short jetty!!!

nope you're not being a racist at all. a lot of my friends are different races than me, and they're great. i have nothing at all against other races. however, all the guys i've ever been attracted to have been the same race as me. it doesn't make us racists, it's just who we're attracted to. don't worry about it, you have every right to feel the way you do and you're not doing anything wrong.
