Tolerance
The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. …. It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint…. It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities….. It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.
-ANONYMOUS
There will always be people who do not have respect and tolerance for one another. Perhaps that could be one of the reasons that there are so many different denominations in the christian faith.....who knows?

This may sound pessimistic...but have you considered that maybe those people aren't breaking the treat others as yourself thing?
It seems Julia has already hit the head of that nail better than I could. Christians went so far as to kill a pope that WANTED to insurrect positive changes.
I have met many people who hate themselves and treat people the same way. This doesn't mean full-blown self-hatred, but a more subtle kind that has infiltrated the heart and mind. This is mostly in the field of psychology, though. Such people are often too afraid to actually commit attrocities directly upon themselves, so they involve other innocents in their self-loathing. This often leads to various forms of abusive relationships....even in families.
However, there are still many people who love other people and do whatever they can to help them. The Dalai Lama is such a person, as are many of his buddhist friends and followers. I am sure that there are more people like this out there.
Hope you find one

Religion...the main reasons or rather excuse for war! War is usually done in the name of God, or Allah, or ??? Have you ever noticed that? I do not hate anyone for their religious beliefs, nor do I hate people in general. What I do hate are their actions. When they start shoving their ideas down others throats. I am not saying everyone does this, and I believe that different religions are the different paths to the creator. I believe that many people think that their free will gives them the right to dictate to others and lord over those they don't think are worthy of "heaven"... Remember, God GAVE us humble mortals a brain and free will. It is up to us how we do things or if we do things. "Jesus" did die for our sins, but it is up to us to make the most of this opportunity. I am sorry to say, there are many out there who would rather be bullies than help others.

Have you ever really LOOKED at the entire history of Christianity since its inception? It is without exception, the bloodiest, most murderous, terroristic religion that has ever existed in known history. It has been responsible for more bloodshed, more forced conversions, more burning people alive, more torture, more wiping out of indigenous people and their culture, more terrorizing of people of other religions, and more destruction of the earth and its resources than ANY known religion ever recorded.
Do a little research yourself, it doesn't take much to discover any of this on your own.
So you shouldn't be surprised when people of that religion treat each other horribly, let alone treat others horribly - it's the very nature of the religion. It SAYS "do unto others as you would have done to you" but you have to think about what this really means.
It's very subjective - what one person would like done to themselves might be absolutely horrible in another's opinion.
And this is also used to mean "well I needed MY soul saved, so I have the right to go around burning others at the stake or killing them, or even treating them badly by my words if they won't get THEIR soul saved by converting to my religion when I tell them about it, so they are condemned to hell too."
As for "Love one another", again, this is a nice little cover, but Christianity doesn't truly believe this, or they wouldn't have the bloodiest history in the records of known religions, ever.
As for "Turn the other cheek", this was actually used when taking over people's cultures and killing them or forcibly converting them to Christianity. Yes, turn the other cheek, don't fight back.
It was a religion founded in order to wipe out all previous religions and cultures, for the reasons of political power and wealth, and that's ALL it ever was for. So to be surprised or even lift an eyebrow at its followers treating others like dirt is really not even an issue, or shouldn't be. It's no different than its entire history has been.

You'd be on the set of coronation highway! In thought i assume if not something ever happend, there could have been no massive Bang which might propose that situations for existence does not have been created!! In physics isn't there a regulation that states each action HAS AN equivalent AND OPPOSITTE reaction?? consequently if there replaced into no preliminary action, evoloution does not exist.... Cool! Existential questions:)

Well, you gotta remember that at the end of the day, this is still a discussion forum on the Internet, which is a breeding ground for all sorts of human evils. Even under the guise of religion and spirituality, before long the evil should come out.

I think once you are here for a while you learn how to go with the flow. I ignore some things like just plain out rude questions or comments. But, there are a lot of good people with good thoughts on here if you can work your way through the crud to find them. ;)

Oye. Since I've been on all I have seen is anti-Christian remarks, and you tell us we are not being kind and respectful. Thats bull, I haven't insulted anyone on here, I haven't called their beliefs a delusion, I haven't mocked their deity, or lack of it. I just leave them alone. Why do so many people think Christians are so intolerant? I certainly don't think I am.

I agree. I feel that everyone is entitled for their opinion. But when a person or group is singled out and tormented I think that is wrong.
Everyone is entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happyness. Bullying people isn't right and shouldn't be allowed.

I like the Jewish quote much better...
Do NOT do unto others that which is hateful to you.
Christians have done way to much throughout the centuries. Perhaps there would have been less bloodshed if the law had read "Do NOT do...."
