Brush your teeth when you wake up, before you go to bed, and after meals. Floss daily (but if your gums are really sore and bleeding, maybe start with every other day until they can handle it, then go to every day.)

A dentist once recommended to my husband to rinse with hydrogen peroxide diluted in some water. It won't burn like Lysterine.
