Three dozen Southern California high school and college students wearing caps and gowns launched a hunger strike Monday to call for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrant students.

Vowing not to eat and only drink water until Monday, the group launched its campaign at the offices of Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Santa Ana) and plan to protest at the offices of representatives in Pasadena, Bakersfield, San Jose and San Francisco.

The protesters — including graduates and students of UCLA and UC Irvine — say they were illegally brought into the United States as children by their parents. They held signs with messages such as "I Want to Be a Lawyer" and "Bachelor Degree of Science in Chemistry."

ya, i want u to give me a million bucks to pay all my debt, but that's not going to happen! your right, since when did it became somebody else's problem about their immigration status? it was their parent's job to get a visa for them. just because they went to school doesnt mean they get all the rights. by all means, go on a hunger strike, it's not my job to feed them. and by the way, these are the same people who benefited the reduced tuition fees that's why we cant afford to send our kids to college.

What's your point here? At least they are trying to go to college. What about all these teachers that go on strike because they don't make $80K a year and 3 months off a year isn't enough for them? They cost us taxpayers a ton of money when they do that. Not to mention the students are the ones suffering when they strike. My point is that there are bigger issues this country faces than a few illegals trying to get a college education by starving themselves.....have a nice day!

If we could put them in a cage, then it would be just like they are sentenced to bread and water for their crimes. They should encourage all their illegal friends to do the same.
Actually, its not really a hunger strike, if they plan to eat again on Monday, its more of a fast, which could actually help them physically in the long term. When they stop eating and start dropping in the streets, then I would be concerned.

OK the word dumb *** needs to be said here . Gandhi used hunger strikes and it worked because what he wanted was good for a country not just one part of the community . They have the chance to become citizens . They just have to work for it . They want a job here it is become a citizen .

A hunger strike hurts no one but themselves. Are we supposed to be concerned for their well being? They are using the college education that you and I paid for to pull off such a juvenile stunt. I'm glad they are putting that college education to work for them.
I say,let them starve, their choice. Doesn't affect me at all. I'm more concerned about our own American children that go to bed hungry and not by their choice.

Where was ICE while they were demonstrating. If we were going to give amnesty to any group, it should be these people. However, the pro amnesty kooks went way to far in demanding amnesty for all illegal aliens, so the American citizenry rightfully became angry and deluged their US Reps with emails. As you know, the Senate Shamnesty bill was defeated.

If the pro amnesty lobby had only asked for amnesty for students, college graduates, and agricultural workers, they probably would have gotten a "comprehensive immigration reform" bill passed. They were too greedy and they got nothing. Tough sh*t, La Raza.

I don't see a question here, but I do observe that if the media ignored such stunts, these things would cease to occur. Let 'em starve, I say.

It obvious you choose to ignore the significance behind the strike. Not caring that these students are victims. Stand back and look at the big picture.

My goodness... They are right out there saying they are illegal and have been sponging off the legal citizens of this great country and nothing is done about it? So, why isn't ICE rounding up these illegal criminal aliens. They are admitting it to God and the world.... Pick them up and deport them along with their families.
