Christians of all people have the right to celebrate Independence day. This nation was founded upon Judeo - Christian principles. Independence Day has everything to do with God. Anyone who says otherwise does not know true American history. Our Founding Fathers were overwhelmingly Christian. And unlike one said, it was not for freedom from religion but freedom of religion. That is why the overwhelming majority of our first settlers came here in the first place. it's so sad that so many today do not know the true history of this great nation.
John Adams proposed that when Americas future citizens celebrated The Declaration of Independence, they should have religious services to thank God for what He had brought about. President Adams said Independence Day should" be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival, commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty, from one end of the continent to the other, from this time forward and forevermore."
May God bring to light the truth that has been so long buried by our historical revisionists.May America return to her Christian heritage again.
God bless America!!!

Not all Christians celebrate Independence Day... because not all of them are Americans. Since I am an American, I celebrate the national holidays of this country. That includes our day of independence. My boyfriend is Christian, and Italian... so he does not celebrate our Independence Day. However...I imagine he celebrates the National holidays of Italy...

Independence Day is a secular holiday. Anyone can celebrate it. Most of the founding fathers were Christians, but that is a whole different topic.

Christianity is a religion. Independence day celebrates our nationhood. Apparently Christians can distinguish between the two, while everyone else think that everything that christians do is in the name of God. I brushed my teeth this morning and didn't think about him once, can you believe it.
Also, the hundreds of millions of christians in Europe, South America, and the rest of the world probably could care less because they don't live in the US.

It's not a Christian holiday - it's a celebration of the day America became free from opressive English rule.

I can't speak for us all but...
I celebrate the freedoms that we have in this country that are lacking in many others.
I celebrate that we can still disagree with each other and even our government and speak our minds about it.
Mainly though, I like to take a moment to honor those who have fought, struggled, died and continue to do so to protect those freedoms that we take for granted daily.

Independence day is not a christian holiday, it is an american holiday. Any american should celebrate it because it stands for freedom, it has nothing to do with God.

Just like Flag Day or Columbus Day, there are national patriotic days to celebrate our country.
