Will they really be able to help me get my name out there? Please tell me everything you know about talent agents, how to spot a scam and how talent agents work in "my field" so i don't end up wasting time money and effort.

1. You have to have talent.
2. You apply for an agent, they don't just come to you.
3. They will advise and advertise your work to any applicable genre, so yes to the musical theater question.
4. Musical theater has it's own rules and regulations and most talent agents won't be able to help you anymore than the quality of your work itself would, check into this in the NYC area...there are 40,000 musical theater "agents"
5. They get paid by you. You pay them.
6. This is a highly premature question considering you admit you have nothing ready to be submitted, but when the time comes the normal process can take YEARS before you are actually granted an appointment with an agent. It's up to the agent to carry you, and you have to dazzle and amaze them, so this goes back to the quality of your work.
7. I am Snag, King of Knowledge.

Well a few take roughly. For illustration, I determined an agent that took approximately 25% and person who took five%. But 10% is quite well. Sometimes the 25% do not quite have that many customers, so that is why they ask that a lot. Sometimes the five% ones uncover plenty of jobs for his or her customers, so they are able to have the funds for to get handiest that a lot. It's your option. But I feel that the most affordable, the bigger. You will have to additionally verify experiences of special groups. I have no idea any American ones ( I are living in Europe), however simply google proficiency retailers. Hope you've a pleasant proficiency profession! P.S.You wish to perform HIT seek America, proper? If now not, verify it out. It's a quite cool contest.

It's too soon to think about. As a minor you cannot get a Talent Agent. Don't worry about it. If and when the time comes, you will know when you need an Agent.
