Do banana trees walk?

i have been told, seriously, that banana trees "walk", thats why is banana plantations there is a large ditch right around the area, to prevent walking. obv. they dont actually walk, but do they move over time.

Firstly, bananas don't grow on trees. They are classed as herbs.

Secondly, yes they do "walk". The stems fruit, and die back, while another stem grows up from slightly along the roots; so over a period of a few years a 'tree' may travel a couple of yards.

Not only do bananas walk but they are also known to run.
I was in a four hundred metres race at school and Robert Banana beat me by a small skin.

maybe because they are corms, a root system which produces new off spring. Perhaps the 'mother' tree dies down and the offshoot grows and repeats the process. Over time moving across the plantation.
