"Pidgin English" is not an accurate label for anything. There are, and have been, dozens of pidgin Englishes in the world. Some are still spoken by small numbers of people, others are extinct, others have evolved naturally into creoles. You seem to be thinking of something spoken in Nigeria, so the correct term is NOT "Pidgin English", but "Nigerian Pidgin (English)", otherwise someone could give you the term in Hawaiian Pidgin English and be just as correct as someone who gave the term in Tok Pisin or Nigerian Pidgin English.
