A great crowd pleaser are turn-overs and their super easy. Just buy some pre-made flaky-pastry dough at the market. Then cut them into circles or squares a good size because you'll fold them in half later. Then buy some pre-made pie filling like apples or blueberries in a jar. Put a sppon in the middle of each pastry circle/square. But a little water on the edges of half of each pastry, then fold the other side on and push down with a fork to seal the edges. Pop these on an unbuttered cookie sheet about an inch apart. Stick in the over for 15-25 minutes depending on the pastry dough at 375*. Watch it and take it out when the dough is golden brown. Cool and enjoy!

I've just found something that makes an old favorite even easier--Philadelphia Cream Cheese has come out with their cheesecake filling pre-made--in a tub that's just the right size to fill a premade crust, such as a graham craker or Oreo cookie crust. If you want to include add-ins, like crumbled up cookies, chocolate chips, fruit, etc., you can just mix them up in the tub itself, then pour the whole thing into the crust. You could also add garnishes on top. Given the holiday, you might place blueberries in a grouping across 1/4 of the cheesecake, and sliced strawberries (alternating a row of strawberries with about the same width of cheesecake showing through), to resemble an American flag.

Make a 13X9 strawberry cake (box kind is fine) and frost it with cool whip. Then take cut up strawberries and blue berries and design the American flag on the cake using the strawberries as the red stripes and the blue berries in the corner for the stars. I make this every year...very yummy and cute. You can use any flavor cake also...I just like strawberry for the 4th. Take care. Happy 4th of July!

My favorite:
1 package one step angel food cake mix (make sure it is ONE STEP-No mixes that have you add one mix to another or it will flop!)
1 22 oz. can crushed pineapple.
With a spoon, stir both together in a large bowl (it will puff way up)
Pour into a lightly greased (I use Pam) casserole sized pan 13x9x2 1/2
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes. Let it cool.
Top with Cool Whip, fresh strawberries and blueberries for a festive 4th of July look. It tastes SO good, it's cheap, and everyone loves it!
Happy baking

1 qt. strawberries (about 4 cups), divided
1-1/2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) or 2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Brand Gelatin, any red flavor
Ice cubes
1 cup cold water
1 pkg. (12 oz.) pound cake, cut into 10 slices
1-1/3 cups blueberries, divided
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

SLICE 1 cup of the strawberries; set aside. Halve remaining strawberries; set aside.
STIR boiling water into dry gelatin mix in large bowl 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 2 cups. Add to gelatin; stir until ice is melted. Refrigerate 5 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Meanwhile, line bottom of 13x9-inch dish with cake slices. Add sliced strawberries and 1 cup of the blueberries to thickened gelatin; stir gently. Spoon over cake slices.
REFRIGERATE 4 hours or until firm. Spread whipped topping over gelatin. Arrange strawberry halves on whipped topping for "stripes" of "flag." Arrange remaining 1/3 cup blueberries on whipped topping for "stars." Store leftover cake in refrigerator.

Substitute
Prepare as directed, using JELL-O Brand Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin.
