in Genesis, Chap. 1, Verse 2, It clearly states that the Earth was "without form; lifeless", until god created it. Then in Genesis 1:3, it says that he created the sun. How is this possible when science holds that the Earth couldn't have possibly created without the dependence on the Sun? Please, make this interesting and speak of it in the light of science, don't just say "Because I believe, it must be right"

A question for Justin:
What the hell does that mean?
Answer the question of don't say anything.

Fine, let me clarify:
I asked this question to see if Christians would stop spoon feeding themselves BS and realize that their holy book is flawed.
Thats like the idea of the trinity:
God is a man, who's a Ghost, but is actually God, who died...
It's stupid and makes no sense
I'm dumb for thinking that Christians could carry on a conversation for more than 2 min. without saying "Don't question God" or "Because it's Gods plan"
But it seems I was wrong and I apologize
P.s. I don't Hate Christianity

Marie Jane proves my point
"Why is it hard to accept that Jesus blah blah blah"
I don't care that you're on a crusade
If anyone has valuable input, say it, or at least know that THE EARTH COULDN'T EXIST WITHOUT THE SUN
Don't argue that it's lifeless, but it still existed...
IT DIDN'T EXIST...
:/

Many things in the bible contradict what science says. Like Jesus turning water into wine, and making a blind man see. If you have no faith then you have no faith. I probably can't persuade you to understand how something that goes against science can be real. But Science is a practice...just like medicine is a practice. There are many theories and some are true some are not (evolution for example). How do some believe we "morph" over time into humans from apelike creatures? Seems almost as ridiculous as some people assume God is. God can do anything. If he says he mad the sun before he made earth than that is how it happened. I think back to the question...what came first, the chicken or the egg? and no matter how hard I think about it, there is no reasonable answer except God. God created chickens (along with every other animal) and the chickens laid eggs, and so on and so forth. They have proof that many things the bible says is true...why can't you just accept what hasn't been proven yet? Why is it so hard to accept that Jesus loves you and would give you a place in heaven if you only wanted it. If God had the power to create earth and the planets, then he had the power to make them in any order he wanted. God is Almighty. Simple as that.

The Genesis account begins by telling us that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth".

It establishes that sometime in the beginning (which could span 24 hours or 248 quadrillion years from a human perspective) God created the heaven and the earth.

Now that the earth had already been created, it had to be prepared for habitation. That's what the "7 days" were, a period of preparation as opposed to creation. The physical universe was already in place. It is likely that the earth was nothing more than a mass of rock and lava (and perhaps clouds of smoke). God had to take steps to tidy up so that human, animals, and plants could thrive here.

"Let there be light", therefore, could very well have been God clearing away the dust clouds or setting the rotation of the earth in motion.*****personal opinion/speculation****

The Genesis account, when looked at from a more objective point of view, does not contradict science.

God created the universe, the earth, gravity and all other physics, light itself (not the sun and stars yet, but simply the concepts of light and darkness), and everything that exists. He organized it into a system according to his will and set it it motion. The earth he formed into a sphere covered with water, then made land appear. The light he formed into stars including the sun, then he started it all spinning held together by the gravity he'd created.

He made it all including the physics that hold it all together. Have you ever wondered why the nature of gravity cannot be determined? We know that it works and what it does, but we can't find a "gravity wave" or anything else to explain its source... we don't understand *why* masses attract one another. I suggest to you that gravity is God's will holding the creation together the way He designed it.

God didn't create a mass of stuff that organized itself into the universe according to the laws of physics... He created the universe and then set it in motion bound by the physics He designed to control it.

it fairly is an exciting question. The King James version reads Genesis a million:a million as: "contained in the initiating God created the heaven and the earth.", a million:3 as: "And God pronounced, enable there be mild: and there replaced into mild." And a million:sixteen as: "And God made 2 large lighting fixtures furnishings;..." etc. This places the order: a million. earth 2. mild and 3. large lighting fixtures furnishings (supplies as sunlight and moon). it fairly is in accordance to what all of us recognize could have been seen if somebody might to computer screen the forming of earth from the exterior of the earth. the only place the israelites would desire to connect with with the aid of the way. purely after the forming of a sturdy earth the ambience would desire to have been fairly thick, for this reason "darkness replaced into upon the face of the deep."(Genesis a million:2). between the 1st issues mandatory for existence to exist may be to cut back the density of the ambience and enable mild come with the aid of, for this reason "enable there be mild" (Genesis a million:3). nonetheless it does not unavoidably propose that the sunlight and moon may be for sure seen, in basic terms a diffuse mild all around. it might have taken time for the ambience to clean plenty as to enable the sunlight and moon be seen as separate bodies contained in the sky. curiously this took the time until eventually the fourth day. And the hebrew observe utilized in a million:sixteen confirms this thought through fact the verse do not say God "created" (bara (heb.)) the large lighting fixtures furnishings yet "made" (wajja-as (heb.)). Why? through fact they have been already created even until eventually now a million:a million. wish this replaced into exciting.

I think a God who would be powerful enough to create everything out of nothing would also be powerful enough to create the earth before the sun. Once someone accepts the first miracle (which isn't all that difficult), then there's no reason to refuse to accept lesser miracles (even if the latter seem less likely). I hope you don't mind that I used logic instead of science.

There are thousands of things in the bible that conflict with established scientific opinion. People who believe that everything the bible says is literally true, have probably just decided that they do not believe in the scientific method nor subscribe to the basic principles of logic and scientific thought. Its important to note that they aren't necessarily wrong, but they certainly have a hard time convincing those people who do believe in science.

Science has a very good track record in predicting things within a certain range of the physical world, but scientists are constantly reworking ideas and replacing things that were once thought to be true, with things that are different. A good scientist is the first to tell you that there is always the possibility that everything we think is true, might not turn out that way.

How were the earth and sun created?

And don't just say the Big Bang Theory because science clearly refuses to answer what there was before the universe was created.

If you want to bash Christians, why not just say I hate Christians. Also, do some homework. Christians don't take everything in the bible literally.

If I take your statements as correct, I think the key is in "Without form; lifeless." This does tend to indicate that it at least existed.
It would also seem fairly obvious, that some form of energy was required, to enable the Earth to survive and prosper.
The Sun needed to be the next thing to be created, hence, that came in 1:3.

Just because the verse came after dosen't mean it happened after.

And light could mean a lot of things, it could mean the very creation of light the creation of sight. And the earth could exist without a sun it would just be a cold hard rock in space, like a moon or an asteroid.

Because light was created before the sun. And the earth could exist with light for a couple of days before the sun was created. Also, in Genesis, some sections occur in chronological order, and others don't.
