They were not called ' Egyptians' they were called Khemites and they did not worship Cats. It was a sign of womanhood under the order of Sekhemet a woman priestess-hood. The Pyramids were built by the sons of seth not the Khemites.

If you ever look at the eyes of a cat, they seem so beautiful and mysterious. Cats seem elegant, independent, and intelligent. They also make great companions. In Egypt, cats were very useful because they ate the mice and vermin that destroyed crops. The Egyptians were grateful for cats and so they incorporated them into their religion.

they didn't worship cats they had a cat goddess.
but, if you look at a cat they act divine and god-ish. they were very majestic creatures and the Egyptians realized and acknowledged that.

because their faith taught them that cats were the guards of the underworld . You know the after life . it is a fact look it up under books regarding ancient egypt. good luck .

I believe they felt that the cat was the window to the soul and that the cat could protect you in the after life. they seemed to be ferocious maybe.

because during the times of famine the cats ate the vermin and prevented their food from becoming infested with vermin and their waste. kitties were their heroes! kitty to the rescue!
then the egyptians fed them well and the cats said "we must be gods"
