....are we supposed to let people walk all over us?

I may have taken things a little out of hand on my last question, which wasn't even addressed to atheists in the first place,

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnsXJOXRrtNji3LCmB2G5Absy6IX?qid=20070703114518AAfUNyS

but it is getting irritating at the way atheists answer questions on here.

They insult, ridicule, curse, and become arrogant jerks that think they are better and smarter than anyone that believes in God, but mainly Christians.

They even answer questions that aren't addressed to them, as they probably will this one.

My irritation got the best of me on the last question, I admit.

But, Christians, how much are we supposed to sit there and take from these people?

We are supposed to behave humbly w/ the Lord- doing his will. We need to stand up for ourselves. It is about submitting to God's will for us. Also, deciding how to respond to those who would treat us badly.

Turn the other cheek & all that, but at the same time don't let yourself be abused. Be forgiving & kind like Jesus. He didn't say we have to let others walk all over us. Stand up for yourself. Even Jesus stood up when he needed to do so: protecting the temple.

I am not atheist, I am pagan. I do not get rude with people unless they deserve it. For example a man asked a question and misquoted scripture and took it way out of context and what he was trying to prove the scripture proved the exact oppisite, so when answering I merely pointed out that fact and that should have been that.

He emailed me a hateful message and claimed in his exact words that he was an EXPERT on the matter in which he asked, so I do not suffer fools and I was not nice to him and just told him he was a big blowhard stuck on himself.

I don't like to talk that way, but if you or anyone emails me if you disagree that is fine, but if you or anyone else comes off as an athority or hateful,I will send it back to you threefold.

Undesrtand when I say you, I am not saying you have done or will do such a thing, I am just saying if you send hatemail then you will recieve it back, but if you are nice I will be nice.

Anytime I contact someone first I am nice because after all it is me doing the contacting first. a good many people do not do this, notice I said a good many people and not Christians. Yes Christians can be rude and hateful, as can atheists, but not all Christians are and not all atheists are.

I just followed the link to your first question and honestly you opened yourself up for attacks by quoting scripture then saying atheists are fools. This kind of language is acceptable when talking to other believers, but when you knowingly say something like this within earshot or in this case on the internet where atheist gather, well that is foolish especially if you think you are being persecuted.

The proper thing to have done was to quote scripture and merely stat this is the bible talking, that way it was the bible judgement and not you.

When I was a soul winner, I would share scripture with someone and they said if this is true then I am going to hell right? I never said yes, I just said I am only a man and cannot make that judgement, the bible says what it says and it is up to you to decide if you believe it or not, I have no opinion because I am not God and only a man.

If you and other Christian can learn this lesson, you then can honestly say you were unjustly attacked. There is a thing called tactfulness.

Remember the bible says the Christian is the ambassader for Christ, in other words they represent Christ, so if an ambassader is rude it makes Christ look bad.

Being humble doesn't mean allowing someone to walk all over you. I think you have a wrong definition of what humble means. Being humble is one of the characteristics of Christ. He humbled himself and became a servant for his disciples by washing their feet. We are to have the attitude and the mind of Christ in this same manner. There are many people on here that answer questions that are 'not addressed to them'. Everyone does that because it is a free forum. Don't let the little things get you angry and bitter. It isn't worth it in the long run. It's just small stuff. Secondly, yes, some people on here insult Christians, but we are told in scripture exactly what to do with those that hate us. Scripture tells us to pray for those who insult us and throw curses at us. There is no use being angry about it. Romans 12 says that we are not to be overcome by evil but instead we are to overcome evil with good. Be kind regardless of what someone is doing to you. Have the attitude and the mind of Christ. Stop for a moment and ask what he would have done. Didn't he die for these people as well? If you answer that truthfully, then you may stop and treat them with love. Remember, God is love. When we love another person, we are showing them God.

Have you ever seen how some Christians answer questions from other Christians of a different denomination? Some of those are more snide, judgmental, and arrogant than the atheists; and the Christians should know better.

So, are we supposed to sit back and let you walk all over us as well? If you don't want atheists around on your petty, self-satisfied, purposefully-anger-provoking questions, then don't ask questions. It's that simple.

It may not have been addressed to us, but we're not just going to sit back and let you call us "fools" repeatedly. Just like if I asked a question saying, "Hey, ATHEISTS ONLY--don't you all think Christians are such dopes?", all the Christians would come by in swarms, answering the question despite it not being addressed to them.

There's a thing on this planet called "respect". Why don't you get some?

Edit: "I am not just talking about how Atheists answered the last question I had, I am talking about the way MOST Atheists answers MOST Christian questions."

Oh, really? Apparently you haven't been around much. I have seen many atheists answering supportively--more often than I've seen negatively. Heck, I've given a Christian advice when she felt that she wasn't reading the Bible enough (I said that she could split up during the day, reading in the morning, the afternoon, and then at night, or that she could try taking a break and return to the Bible after resting her mind for a bit. Though I don't know much about reading the Bible, I do know ways that have helped me through books in English class). I hate it when Christians immediately see me in a negative light before they've gotten to know me, and I especially hate it when Christians act all patronizing towards me, like you have just now. I am hardly an arrogant person, and I've never been called mean in my life (except by two kids I was babysitting because I wouldn't let them ride their bikes in the street). Also, I fully acknowledge that there are many Christians who are quite a bit smarter than I am. I could name ten people, right now, who are Christians and are some of the most intelligent people I know.

So, do me a favor and quit generalizing before I *really* start to rant. :)

Despite the fact that questions are sometimes addressed towards Christians, the topics may grab the attention of others, so they'll read what they are. It's inevitable that we will be insulted, judged, ridiculed, etc. for our faith. However the Bible says we ARE to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Jesus was spat upon and mocked as He was being crucified, yet He still loved us enough, even non-believers, to die for our salvation. Therefore, I believe we are to always show humility towards others...even to those who don't share our faith.

39"But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Yes, You are so right, and I agree with you I00%. You know, Jesus said He knew He was Hated, therefore we would be too. But I Don't believe He expects us to be walked on like a rug. > We Can Be Humble alright, But also Have a Rightous Anger against Evil. > He Showed His In the Synagouge with a Whip! Remember? And He Had a Few "Choice" Names for these people. Like> Scorners, Skeptics, and Dogs! Do not feel Convicted as WE are Human! God tells us also, that He knows "Our Spirit is Willing, But the Flesh is Weak> (shows we're human) It is very hard to do, but we must feel sorry for them. They are rebelling against God, and He loves them! > But someday, God will give up on them>>( He says: " I will not Strive with Man Always)" Then they will be separated from Him Forever and ever, thru-out Eternity.

Saved By Grace : if you read your message again, I'm sure you'll see the speck of dust in your eye. You weren't born a Christian, so have some compassion for those who aren't "Saved By Grace" yet. They (aetheists) see you as a hypocritical jerk now - WHO would want what you have?? Show your peace instead of your intolerance. Do you know the fable about the wind and the sun in competition to see who could get the man to take off his coat? The wind blew and blew (forcefully) and couldn't do it. The sun (gently) beamed down upon the man. Who succeeded in getting the man to take off his coat?

Best wishes.
Peace and love.

You can be humble, by submitting to God and knowing that any righteous act you do is because you are made in His image and is because of Him for His glory and for the exaltation that comes from your humility. If a person isn't humble, they may as well not be christian. Because then their righteousness becomes pride and self-righteousness. No one should just let someone walk all over them though, if they don't have to... because it isn't wise to let someone abuse you. One should walk in safety and in wisdom.
