These are the big 3 Flea treatments - only available at vets, and online - I don't recommend you buy online though because you can't guarantee you'll receive the genuine article, or that it's in date or been stored/shipped correctly.
All 3 of these products kill adult fleas on the animal within 24 hours of application. They all have to be applied monthly to cats for continuing flea prevention. Frontline Combo is a newer product, it has the added benefit of killing the flea eggs too, so it helps treat the environment. Fleas live in your carpet just as much as on your animal you see, so you have to treat the environment too, usually with a housespray - Frontline Combo does this for you. It also only need to be used every 6 weeks for continued protection.
I recommend Frontline Combo for the above reasons - although all three are good and will mean that any flea that bites your animal will die - treating the environment too will of course mean there are no fleas around to bite!
Revolution is called Stronghold in the UK by the way (Hi, I come from Kent) It treats tapeworms as well as fleas, these are the worms that are transmitted by fleas.

EDIT: You probably already know, but don't use anything from supermarkets or shops - it's cheap because they mostly don't work! Frontline Spray is not for use as a housespray. My surgery sells Frontline Combo packs of 3 for £18.71 - 50p more expensive than regular Frontline. They come in packs of 3 or 6, same as Stronghold. Advantage is packs of 4.

You can purchase these products from your vet, from a delivery service like 1-800-Pet-MEDS, or if you live in a rural area, they may have them at your local Co-op. They usually cost anywhere between $15-20 for one dose, but come in packs of 3 or more, so you do the math. One application will usually last a month. The fleas will die once they bite the skin of the animal that has been treated with the medicine. Advantage is the best that I've found for fleas and Frontline Plus the best for ticks. You may live in an area where there are no ticks (lucky) so you won't have to worry about that. Otherwise, ask you vet which would work best for your pet. Good luck!

I don't know about revolution. I believe that Frontline works by actually killing the fleas and Advantage works by killing the eggs (or I might have that reversed). I tried both when my cat had a bad flea problem. Advantage finally wiped them out. While treating your cat(s) you also have to be diligent about cleaning: vacuum regularly, wash your bedding often, etc. Fleas live in bedding and upholstery.
A package of either usually has about 3 months worth of treatments, I believe. You have to treat every 2 weeks or so. If you have indoor cats, you're done when the fleas have been gone for a while, but if you've got outdoor cats, it's a good idea to keep treating, as they can bring fleas back inside.
Ask the vet. You can also buy from petmeds.com.

I know why you intend to put down the earth/boric acid route, but boric acid is toxic to your cat if he walks on it, and then licks his paws clean. Frontline and Advantage are similar, but Frontline Plus has a second ingredient that prevents the eggs from hatching. So that is a better approach. At 15 weeks, your kitten is old enough. And understand that they don't kill the fleas immediately. So you also have to get rid of the fleas in the environment. They kill the fleas within 24 hours during the first two weeks, and 48 hours in the second two weeks after proper application. Actually, Revolution is better, but it is available only from your vet. And your vet has Capstar, which will kill all active fleas right away, but doesn't provide any long term protection. So you have to break the flea-egg cycle. That usually means rigorous vacuuming, and then a flea bomb fogger once the cats are in good shape, numbers wise.

Frontline cost about £15 for three months, it gives protection for up to six weeks. The disadvantage is that because of the way it works you have to keep using it to get the protection, if you stop or miss a dose then the fleas can come back. It is now available at Chemists as well as through the Vets (it's also a little cheaper through the Chemists).

I've tried both Advantage and Frontline. For my cat, Advantage worked wonders. Within a couple of weeks, all the fleas were gone. With Frontline, even after a month, we still had some fleas.
It's very easy. Apply the solution once a month on back of the cat's neck. It's like magic! You can get it from the website below. It says they deliver internationally.

I use Frontline flea spray because one of my mogs is allergic to flea bites & using the srops mean the fleas have to bite her first. She stopped scratching (after a meeting with a hedgehog) after about an hour and all the scabby bites had gone in 4 days.
I use Advantage carpet spray on the bedding, carpets etc. - MAGICAL!
I can only get them from the vets and they DO seem to cost a lot - but they are the only things I have found that actually work!

Frontline is the best I think. I had a dog with a flea allergy & she couldn't get bitten even once & that was the only thing that worked (we had a cat aswell & that's who kept picking up the fleas...). I sometimes worry that it is a bit strong, but cats really suffer if they have fleas so it is a bit of a catch 22. Also, Frontline isn't too expensive, although you have to buy it at a vet.

hey, when i first moved into my apartment my cat became infested with fleas. i went to the vet (yes, you need to get them from the vet) they gave me advantage (or frontline can't really remember) but it was only like $10 for one months treatment. i used that one month and didn't have a problem after. it killed all the fleas in the place!! you see, it kills the fleas on the animal plus any that get on later. totally awesome!! it's totally worth the trip to the vet!! good luck!!

I tried a few different flea treatments and have found Frontline to be the best by far. I get it online from www.petremedies.co.uk as they tend to have good offers.
