You are getting a lot of stupid answers.
Sealing for time and all eternity is a sacred ordinance performed in the temples by Priesthood authority. It is a marriage ceremony in a special sealing room where the couple kneel on either side of the alter and hold hands across the alter while the presiding sealer asks each person if they accept and do this according to their own free will. They both say yes and the officiator pronounces them man and wife for time and for all eternity. They kiss across the alter and it is over. I am not going to tell you exactly what happens. It is a wedding ceremony not unlike many others. the main difference is that it is inside the temple, is performed under priesthood authority delegated from the prophet, and is for time and all eternity.
They will be married in the eternities as well as in this life. When Christ taught that they are neither married nor given in marriage in the resurrection, He taught that marriage is a mortal ordinance and therefore, the eternal sealing needs to be done here on earth because it can't be done later. That is why we do our geneaology and perform these ordinances vicariously for our ancestors, so that they can have the benefit of the mortal saving ordinances when they did not have the opportunity while they were alive.

I was going to answer but then I saw all the nay-sayers snide comments and I thought why would I sully the most precious event of my life by explaining it here for people to mock and scorn.

I will say that 19 years later I am only now beginning to understand that beautiful simple ceremony, and how precious my marriage is to my friend, love and companion for eternity.

anyway if you really want to know stuff here are some links.

I love the temple -- I am a better man for going and learning there. My marriage means so much to me and I am grateful that I could be married in the temple for all time and eternity.

let the mocking begin

A man and his bride kneel across an alter in the tempe. Two observers are designated as the official witnesses. The sealer gives words of advice. Then he states his authority as a sealer and declares them husband and wife for all time and eternity. At this point the couple may exchange rings followed by the customary kiss.

Obviously I didn't give you the ceremony verbatem.

It means that after two people get married in the LDS temple, that they can go through a ceremony where they can be bound together not just for earth, but for all time and eternity. If either of them already has any children, they are sealed to each of them for all time and eternity.

All of the answers thus far, except for Sister of Christ, display ignorance of what transpires. To the faithful active LDS couple or family, in their hearts and mind it is, something akin to an eternal insurance policy. A couple whom are truly in the emotional state of love have a desire not to play the on going game of sequencal..polagamy... That is marry for a year or two and get tired of playing house and wish to change for any number of reasons, including bordom with whom ever they had chosen to marry. A large percent of the LDS people that do marry in the Temple see the rites as an everlasting commitment to the other person. It should be said a good many of those couples do honor such a relation ship and sacred vows. Of coure there are exceptions as in "civil only..till death do part" marriages. The one thing here which does set the Temple marriages apart is that most of the couples are serious about being together as families with their own children in the life her after as they understand it. In it's self not a bad virture and one that our society could give a lot more serious thought to. With that said, refering to all the misinformation and attempts at comedy here at this Q-A site, there is no unruly or unmoralistic retuals involved in a Temple marriage. After both parties have recived their basic temple endowmwnts which is basicly a class not unlike a college class speaking of codes of ethics and moral standards and making vows to agree to and accept them, the couple will be joined in marriage. The joining in marriage is not unlike a couple standing in front of a Judge, Pastor or even a ship's captian, and agreeing in front of other witnesses they do accept the other person as their "sealed for eternity" spouse. further that not even death, can "seperate or divorce" this couple for all time. They both agree as in any other marriage to always be faithful to their own spouse as in a civil marriage. If there are any children of this previous married couple they will also be sealed to the couple for all eternity. The couple meet and kneel at an alter face one another and make vows of fidelity to each other.

In asnswer again to so many misguided accounts they couple are fully clothed as are the Priest Hood member preforming the rite. There of witnesses to the whole preceedings of active Temple recomend holding family members such as parents and siblings. The formal dress of course is all white for all involved and for the women they are all modestly clothed not like some civil skimpy wedding dresses.

After the ceramony they will greet their witnesses and cry of course shake the grooms hands and all will disapear to either the women's dressing rooms or the men's and changed back into the normal street clothes to attend a reception in.

Nothing as gross as some of your imaginations would like to suggest or believe. This is probably one of the better concepts that the LDS Church pushes...even though it is a cult

It is actually a lot more simple than most weddings. It only takes a few minutes. There is an exact prayer that I won't repeat, but it basically asks the bride and groom if they will accept and honor each other forever. The kiss and exchange of rings isn't necessary but happens at many of them.

Nothing much. Nothing weird or evil or sordid. Just family holding hands and getting sealed for time and all eternity.

Getting hooked (sealed) to your spouse for eternity... and later at the reception you get to be baptized for all the unsaved dead people in your family!

Can you say Beetlejuice?

It's one of their secret temple ceremonies. Families get "sealed" to each other so they will always be together when jeebus takes them to heaven. (One of the 3 heavens that mormons believe in)
