You cannot make Him leave, but you CAN make Him grieve. He said He would make His abode with us eternally. And that we are sealed by the Spirit to the day of redemption.

RE:
If we sin as christians does the Holy Spirit depart or does He stay in us?
In the time of Saul the Holy Spirit did not always strive with man.. but in today's NW testament times does the Spirit LEAVE US..does the LORD leave us even though He said He will NEVER leave us?
Does departing from the Faith MEAN that the Spirit will leave us?
This is a crucial kind of...

A key verse that indicates the unique ministry of the Holy Spirit in this age is John 14:16 where Jesus promised the Spirit would indwell believers and that the indwelling would be permanent. This permanent indwelling would not be for a select few but for all believers. There are a number of indicators that affirm these facts.
The Holy Spirit is a gift. The Holy Spirit is a gift given to all believers in Jesus without exception; no conditions are attached to the gift of the Spirit except faith in Christ (John 7:37-39). Many Scriptures speak of the Holy Spirit as being “given” to believers. The word give in these instances means “to bestow a gift” (cf. 2 Cor. 1:22; 1 Thess. 4:8; 1 John 4:13). Because the Holy Spirit is given as a gift, there is nothing the person can do to receive the gift apart from accepting it.
The Holy Spirit is given at salvation. This is the positive statement of which the negative is that the unbeliever does not possess the Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 indicates the Holy Spirit is given at the moment of salvation. The sealing (and indwelling) with the Spirit took place at the time of believing. Galatians 3:2 also emphasizes this same truth.
A person not possessing the Holy Spirit is an unbeliever. Romans 8:9 emphasizes, “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” Jude 19 refers to unbelievers as “devoid of the Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit indwells carnal believers. The carnal Corinthian Christians, who were guilty of incest, lawsuits against fellow believers, and other sins, were nonetheless indwelt by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). If only a select group is indwelt by the Spirit then the Corinthians would not all have been indwelt. Romans 8:9 and 2 Corinthians 1:22 demand a conclusion that all believers, regardless of their spiritual condition, are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit indwells believers permanently. Not only does the Holy Spirit indwell all believers, but it is a permanent indwelling (John 14:16). The Holy Spirit is given to believers as a “down payment,” a verification of their future glorification (2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 4:30).
Problems Related To Indwelling
There are a number of biblical texts that raise problems with the New Testament teaching on the permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Some of these deserve special note.
Psalm 51:11. David’s prayer, “Do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me,” relates to the temporary indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament economy. Following Pentecost the indwelling of the Spirit was permanent (John 14:16).
Acts 5:32. Peter is not establishing obedience as a condition for the indwelling of the Spirit, but rather Peter uses “obey” as a synonym for believe. The similar expression is used in Acts 6:7, where it is clear that the meaning is faith (cf. John 3:36).
Acts 8:14-17. This was a unique situation during the transition from law to grace and from Israel to the church. There had to be a clear evidence that the Samaritans were also receiving the Spirit just as the Jews. This is not normative to this age. If it were normative, then no one could receive the Spirit because it would take the apostles to confirm the indwelling, just as they did with the Samaritans.

The holy spirit and the soul reside within the body, as a driver and navigator reside within the car.
If the driver ignores the navigator, the driver loses his way. The navigator has to wait until the driver puts pride before a fall and asks for help finding the correct path.
The holy spirit is like sunshine, and the soul can either sunbathe or choose not to. In any event the holy spirit does not leave the body, but rather the souls chooses in its ignorance to take its own council.
In the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus says that for an individual to reach the kingdom of heaven "the two must become one", meaning that the soul must reestablish a permanent relationship with the holy spirit such as they act as one.
So the spirit never leaves you, but you may leave the spirit.

I just attended a conference. The Holy Spirit was a major topic.
In the case of small sins, the Holy Spirit will remain. But when we repeatedly pick evil over good - and sin becomes habitual - which is habitual turning from God - the Holy Spirit will leave.
Until such time as we decide to turn our lives back around.
Jesus is always with us. But sometimes we are so full of sin he can't be withIN us.
There is a difference. Real intimacy with the Lord, vs having him somewhere near by.

Anyone who expects God to come along when we commit deadly sins is not thinking straight.
Serious and intentional sin causes the loss of grace, which is the divine life of the Holy Spirit, dwelling within a human soul.
Once the Holy Spirit departs, a soul is no longer fit for heaven, unless and until proper apology and repentance is made to God.
Unfortunately for non-Catholics, absent the great sacrament of reconciliation, it's impossible for anyone to know for sure, until Judgment Day, whether God has accepted their apology.

In the time of Saul, the Holy Spirit wasn't on the earth yet.
The Spirit didn't come until after the death of Christ. God (the Father) manifested Himself on earth during the Old Testaments period.
The section where the Bible describes God "leaving Saul", referrs to God removing the torment restrictions on Saul. All demons must make a direct request of God before they can act against humans. God removed the restriction on Saul, as punishment for his faithlessness.

If you were baptized in the name of the Triune God - "In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit" -- you have the Holy Spirit.
When you say, "I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for the sins of the world including my sins," that shows that you have the Holy Spirit because no one can make that confession unless the Holy Spirit has led him/her to do so (1 Co 12:3).
At the same time it is proper that you are concerned about remaining in the faith because Scripture warns us often about the enemies of our faith who are constantly seeking to lead us into unbelief or despair (1 Peter 5:8). The fact that you are concerned about remaining in the faith is also an indication that the Holy Spirit is working in your heart, otherwise you wouldn't care about this.
As you struggle with your doubts, say to Jesus what the man who came to Jesus once said, "Lord I do believe. Help me overcome my unbelief." (Mk 9:24). Then also remember these two things:
1. Jesus promises that no one will be able to snatch his sheep who listen to his voice out his hands (John 10:27-29).
2. The Holy Spirit uses the voice of Jesus in the Gospel of the Word and Sacraments to keep us safe in Jesus hands. All of the warnings in Scripture about falling from the faith are meant to keep us from growing careless in our use of the means of grace by which God keeps us in the faith.
So when doubts arise in your heart and mind about your faith, remember that though your faith may be weak, Jesus promises to strenthen your faith again (Is 41:10, 1 Pe 5:10) through your use of the means of grace (Ro 10:17). Instead of focusing on your doubts, focus on his love for you even though your faith may be weak at times and also focus on Jesus promise to you that through his Word he will strengthen your faith in his saving love for you and in this way will keep you safe in his hands.

Jesus said,"I will never leave you or forsake you". Once you are born again, you are born again. You either believe or not. There is no middle ground.

NO. As a background, there are three kinds of spiritual men. The 1st group are the chosen of GOD -the Prophets and saints whose spirits were born in heaven before time began. They incarnated on earth through the course of human history to help work out with THE HOLY SPIRIT the preaching of THE GOODNEWS OF THE KINGDOM. Thus, they are with the HOLY SPIRIT though as men they are neither perfect. But THE LORD GOD said blessed is the men that GOD imputes no sins and covers their transgressions. The 2nd group of the natural men is composed of two categories-the 1st category are the chosen ones among natural m en. These chosen one among natural men are the 1stfruits offered by the Prophets and Saints to the LORD GOD or the 1st among natural men to be adopted to the family (church) of the 1stborn in heaven; and whose spirits were created from the gold dust and silver dust of the earth. They are with THE HOLY SPIRIT as they are inspired by THE HOLY SPIRIT. Yet they are not perfect as THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said in the endtime even the elect will be deceived. And the 2nd category are the natural men whose spirits were created from the dust of the earth. They are actually the 2nd born and such they do not yet understand the Word of GOD as they will only come to understand them in the reigning of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST in HIS 2nd coming over the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN when they will be born in the spirit and become angel-like. The more these 2nd born are not perfect and are deceived by satan and swayed them to sins and errors to wars, terrorism, hatred, anger, crimes, etc and are members of the human gov't called the gov't (kingdom) of the beast (of beastly behavior) whose queen is queen Jezebel the harlot woman. THE HOLY SPIRIT is protecting them in a way that when satan brings them to error and sins, they suffer as what you sow is what you reap. But when they suffer authored by satan THE HOLY SPIRIT gives them the honor and glory to partake to the suffering of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and in that way they earned as their spiritual works their angel-like status in the coming kingdom of heaven. It is so as THE LORD JESUS CHRIST earned also as HIS wages, as a worker is entitled to his wages, by HIS spiritual works of passion on the cross and death, the redemption and salvation of all men. Moreover, THE HOLY SPIRIT is a divine working group composed and headed by EMMANUEL -THE GOD in the spirit; then the seven spirits before the throne of THE LORD GOD; then the spiritual communion of the Prophets and Saints and their disciples amidst and around the throne of THE LORD GOD; then the angels all around the throne of THE LORD GOD; and the image of this divine group is in the image of a woman-church, THE VIRGIN MARY. As THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is the ONE who sends the HOLY SPIRIT to HIS servants/ disciples and men but will not speak on his own but that of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST thus, individually THE HOLY SPIRIT comes in the image of an angel like the ball of light that appeared to St Paul in the road to Damascus but the light spoke saying I AM JESUS whom you are persecuting or THE HOLY SPIRIT comes in the image of a dead Prophet or Saints or even alive Prophets or Saints thus, they speak in the name of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST or THE HOLY SPIRIT comes in the image of VIRGIN MARY like in the apparitions in Fatima (for info she is daughter of Mohammad regarded by Islam as their Virgin Mary). and Lourdes or in Guadalupe, Mexico and other parts of the world. Likewise, among the prayerful women through the parable of the 10 virgins whom 5 are wise and they are the prayerful women and they will be the queens of galaxies in the Kingdom of heaven under the QUEEN OF HEAVEN-VIRGIN MARY- the human image of THE MOTHER OF ALL-THE CITY OF GOD, THE HOLY CITY JERUSALEM (Gal 4:26; Rev 21:10-21). Morever, THE HOLY SPIRIT will never depart from men as THE SALVATION OF THE LORD GOD will last forever and HIS righteousness will never end. Likewise, THE HOLY SPIRIT will always be with us, as THE LORD GOD is the ONE who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness over all the Earth. THUS, THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.
