The Bible says that everyone falls short of the Glory of God, and that we, as believers, should not judge one another. One sin is no greater than any other. So why is it that a lot of Christians claim all gay people are headed straight for hell? What about the straight Christians who are cheating on their wives/husbands... Where will they end up?

Tee 8T7:"God new women and men would cheat,"

If this is the case, then God knew women would cheat on men with other women and men would cheat on women with other men, correct?

I'm not Christian, but even if I were, I'd have a hard time imagining God sending so many people to hell for something they can't control. I've been attracted to men I can't stand--it's nothing I can really change. People don't "choose" who they're attracted to.

But, as I discussed this with a very, very Catholic friend of mine, I discovered that many Christians think that "gay-ness" is like a disease; something to be cured through therapy and a "good relationship with Christ" (because apparently, homosexuals can't truly have a connection with Christ--my friend's opinion, not mine). It's very backwards, archaic logic--but it can't be helped. Some people are raised to be that way. Intolerant, unaccepting, incapable of recognizing the beauty of people's differences, and how blind love truly is.

I'm a Christian and I wouldn't say that I hate homosexuals or straight people who cheat in their spouces. But I do believe that both groups will go to hell if they do not repent of their sin. To live a life without repenting of your sin is commiting blasphemy and as the verse below states blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin.

But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin.
—Mark 3:29, NIV

God is the one who invented sex and then gave it to humanity but he also know just how powerful sex was so he gave explicit instruction about the context for sex and the situations for sex. Outside of that context having sex is like driving a car in a flood. Your car may continue to run and it might even make it through to dry land but it will lose it's power and it will shorten the life of the car.

While there are Christians that hate gay people--I believe that the life style is wrong but that does not mean that I am to hate the individual. I believe that the gay individual will go to hell--if they continue in that life style. In the Old Testament--homosexuals were cut off from the community. The same thing happened to those that were staight and cheated on their spouses.{Leviticus 18:1-30}. Yes I do believe that they will go to hell as long as they CONTINUE IN THAT LIFE STYLE. My husband and I have a gay friend that is a Christian--he does not live that life style anymore(ABSTAINS).
To say that we are not to judge--Am I judging when I go to the Bible & show what God/Jesus had to say about it. Read Matthew 7:1-3--especially verse 3.
There was one who answered the question that yes in the Old Testament it was wrong but that ended when Jesus came. Read Matthew 5;3-48. If you have a Bible that has Jesus' words in red--you will see that Jesus is talking in this passage. The passages that were written after Christ resurrected--Paul,Peter and the others that wrote --they would not have written what they did if they had not sat at the feet of Jesus.

You have asked a very good question. I am a Christian...I think that a lot of us Christian think that being gay is a "Big Sin," and so we think we only do "little sins." But it's not true, as you have already put it, "one sin is no greater than any other." Many may think that they are holier than gay people, and so they shouldn't interact with them. But as we see in the Bible, Jesus was with all types of people like demon possed people, theives, "unclean" people, and others. Jesus makes it really clear in his teachings that we should love EVERYONE, which includes gay people. Jesus also makes it very clear to us that he loves everyone, and doesn't want anyone to perish. He wants gays, thieves, murders, etc to follow him. So gay people, or anybody, can go to Heaven if they accept Jesus into their heart. But don't think that ALL Christians hate gay people, and if they do they are also sinning. But also Jesus makes it also clear that a man + man shouldn't happen and a woman+woman shouldn't happen. God hates the sin, but absolutely loves the sinner! I have to be honest, sometimes I think I am so much better than gay people, but I am dead wrong!!! Thanks for this question. It was very thought provoking!

"One sin is no greater than any other"

How do you know that? I hear it repeated a lot, but it seems to me that there are some sins that are worse than others. There is even a list in Proverbs of the sins God hates most.

I don't hate gay people. I find their sexual orientation and related activity gross, but as people I don't hate them at all.

And yes, Christians who go around cheating on their spouses are certainly in sin and have to question the authenticity of their faith.

I think the key difference is that most "cheaters" admit that it's wrong and aren't proud of it. I don't see them going around trying to get the culture to accept their sexual behavior. If homosexuals had the same disposition and made some type of recognition that it's wrong and they're not proud of it, but simply couldn't help themselves, then the Christian community would be more compassionate and see them as people who are struggling with their sin rather than a group who refuses to recognize it as sin.

Christians do not hate gay people. I have gay cousins I love very much. But I know what God says about homosexuality--it is sin, and if not repented of and forgiven, will keep a person from eternal life with God. The same goes for adultery, lying, stealing, murder, etc.
Do not expect Christians to condone what God forbids. And do not accuse us of hating others just because we call call sin, sin.

I totally agree. I am Christian and see nothing wrong with homosexuality. Everyone else feels a lot different. I think that pastors preach that it is wrong because there are some places in the Bible that it states that marriage is between a man and a woman. I did a report on churches and the subject and interviewed different churches, one that accepted and one that didnt and they both used the Bible to support their cases.

if you're a true christian you will not be cheating gay or straight. you will not be gay and you'll follow EVERYTHING the Bible says it's not pick and choose. I'm a christian I have a friend that's gay I love her I would be soo upset if anything happened to her do I change my outlook on life just because it was friend who chose that lifestyle? no. I love her but I don't think what she's doing is right and we've talked about it we're cool. accept the person not their ways.

Im a Christian and I dont. I've never understood why many treat them as though they are worse than themselves. Most people, Christian or not, have sex before marriage... this is fornication which is JUST as sinful as homosexuality in the Bible. So is gossip and lying. It makes no sense to me.

Once again I do not hate homosexuals. We speak out about all sin, and since homosexuality is a sin, then we tell people, and since we do you assume that we hate them all. I just speak the truth of the Bible and if people don't listen then I am on my way to a place where people do want to hear. Just because we say that it is a lifestyle based on sin, does not mean that we hate the people.

If i hated homosexuals then I would damn them to hell and be on my way, but because I love them i try to shed some light, and lead them to salvation. I talk about a lot of things and people with sin. If I hated people with sin then i would have gave up on myself a long time ago. Do not be mistaken for i talk to other christians about their problems also.
