misled you when you filed your tax return and you found out they were giving you illegal advise to get more money back? Then you and your spouse got audited. You owe almost $4,000 and the tax person refuses to refund you your money?

Is there any where to report this person to?

Is this tax person a CPA? If so, report them to the state professional organization.

If they're just somebody preparing taxes but not a professional, but are with a firm like H&R Block, the firm should stand behind their work. If it's just an individual doing taxes, but not a format CPA or enrolled agent, you might be out of luck - your only recourse would be to sue them in civil court, and you'd have to prove that the error was their doing and not something you told them wrong, and that could be difficult.

The tax preparer might be responsible for penalties and interest, but the amount that's additional tax that you should have paid in the first place will be your responsibility to pay. And as far as the IRS is concerned, the penalties and interest are yours too, although you can try to get those reimbursed by your preparer.

In any case, at least report them to the IRS.

The IRS would be my second stop, with my first being to consult a lawyer. The Better Business bureau is always good, and any tax professional organizations nationwide or otherwise. Also contact the consumer investigations dept. of your local TV station.

Repot them to the I.R.S. and the Better Business Bureau. Most legitamate tax preparers will stand by you if you get audited. I would sue their pants off!
