I mean, like, why do people who know close to nothing about this religion need to debase it?
People call Muslims radical because they actually BELIEVE in the things that they're saying...
Sorry that Muslims pray more than any other religion...
I guess we can't just assimilate into Western Culture like we thought, can we?

To Annsan, I was a Christian, but converted.
I visit Churches WHEN PRIESTS ASK ME TO so that I can teach Christians a bit about Islam.
And don't sound so hurt by the question, 4 out of 5 people "debating" Islam are Christian

I'm sorry, I don't understand, Serf...
Muslims pray 5 times a day, and Christians pray one time a week.
AND, during the week they drink and have pre-marital sex while some even try to solicit sex from their siblings or children
:/

Because America full of Christian ignorance is unable to tolerate anything that is different from their beliefs, they are also unable to get over the fact that a bunch of lunatics flew some planes into buildings, and can't seem to tell the difference between lunatics and true Muslims.

Muslims don't try to assimilate, they want to take over. It's just a political controlling cult. Muslims in New York said they want the islamic flag flying on The White House as they were burning the American Flag. The American al Queda said that every non-Muslim, including atheists, should convert or face death. Is that bashing or the real truth? Muslims don't tell the truth all the time and you know it. Your quran says you don't have to. allah is said to be a deceiver. That's not what God is though. I'm really glad that some people are speaking the truth about islam...finally.

***Edit: Oh yeah. There are just so many abortion clinic bombings going on. I'm sick of that stupid reply. Name a violent act by Christians that is current, that's increasing, that happens daily around the world. You can't. You pick some incredibly horrible isolated acts that Christians spoke out against immediately to try and justify the terror of islam that existed all along.

**Edit #2: Christians pray whenever they want. That can be all day long or once a day, at home, in our car. We don't have to pray on demand, reciting, not even knowing what we are saying the way Muslims do. We actually pray the way Jesus told us to. Nowhere in The Holy Bible does it say we can't have a drink, just not to get drunk. And the filth you wrote about sex with children, how ironic that your prophet is a pedophile. Isn't he supposed to be your example? Would that make all Muslim men pedophiles then? For someone complaining about people telling the truth about islam, you sure sound like a hypocrite when you tell lies about Christianity.

God Bless.

Don't confuse 'bashing' with 'debating', friend! Don't think something is debased just because it is not believed! Not everything ought to be believed, I'm sure you will agree. You don't believe in Christianity but you don't debase it, do you?

In today's post-modern world it actually IS radical to practice what one believes. Full marks to Muslims for diligence in prayer, fasting, and the good qualities displayed. However, no marks for the disinformation and the misinformation doing the Muslim rounds about the Christian faith. There is huge misunderstanding but Christians can do little about it while Muslims just accept what their leaders tell them without checking it out with practicing Christians. You might think that works the other way around, and you would be correct. But I know more than a few Christians who try to get conversations going with Muslims, without success because Muslims seem to have made up their minds about Christianity, based on what they have been told.

Assimilation is a two-way street.

Westerners know what life was like when most Christians believed what their religion taught, and it was basically hell.

We're afraid of something similar returning.

Yes, afraid. It scares us whenever we someone dedicated to a religion, because we have our own religions over here and thus know how bad they can be. It scares us when we hear authorities in Muslim countries saying scary things.

It scares us that Muslims, even those in Western countries, don't seem to get what is meant by freedom of speech. For instance, when they agitate to make blasphemy an international crime, when they murder filmmakers for making films criticizing the treatment of women in Shariah countries, or when they react violently to books and cartoons, that scares us. Most of us are accustomed to freedom, and we don't want to see that taken away because enough people follow some ancient religion.

I dislike Islam for the same reasons I dislike Christianity, and I firmly believe *both* deserve more open criticism.

I hear too many Muslims resort to the "no true Scotsman" fallacy on here and elsewhere. They say that the terrorists are not really Muslims, but that doesn't matter even if it's true. They are influenced by Islam, and they commit their atrocities in its name.

It also doesn't matter if the number who are violent is small.

The fact remains that if I produce a movie criticizing Islam, there is a decent chance someone will try to kill me. There is a decent chance I will receive threats. There are religious factions out there who believe violence is the correct response to free speech, and that scares me. The very fact that all this brutality goes on *despite* the actual number of terrorists being small ought to tell us that percentages are not important when you're dealing with a billion people. If 99% of Muslims are peaceful moderates and only 1% are violent extremists, that's still ten million violent extremists.

Don't even get me started on treatment of women in Shariah countries. It's telling that only some of the more progressive Muslim countries have banned honor killings (and then only recently). It's telling that whenever you see a fundamentalist Muslim couple walking down the street, only the woman is forced to wear a burkha.

It's been my experience that only a small minority of westerners bash islam. The rest bash islamic terrorists. I think it's great that muslims pray a lot. And I think it's great when someone is willing to stand up for what they believe in even though the rest of society may think it's "weird". But RADICAL muslims (at least by my definition) are the ones who use their religion to kill people. That is not okay - I don't care what they are being taught. I believe in the philosophy of live and let live - as long as what you do doesn't hurt someone else. I admit I don't know much about Islam, which is why I've never condemned the religion itself. But as far as I am concerned, those who think it's okay to kill people in the name of allah are just as bad, if not worse, than those who blow up abortion clinics in the name of God.

There sure is a lot of Christianity bashing by Muslims, why ? People aren't judges by what they say - - - it's what they do that counts. Islam is not making a very good image for itself.
You think that perhaps you can't assimilate into Western culture. Blowing up rail road stations and airports - - - killing many innocent people is a very poor way of assimilating.
Start showing some willingness to assimilate, some cooperation. Praying doesn't do it, acting ill.

People of all religions "believe" in the things that they are saying. Many millions of Christians live very devoted lives every day. You may hear about 1 who goes astray, but go into the churches of America and you will find very, very committed men and women. With that said, some people are blood thirsty. This is true throughout society and crosses over religious barriers. Radical Islam justifies violence as a means for God to state his point and exact revenge on troublesome peoples. They will say that it is in retaliation of xyz, but they are very indiscriminate on who they exact this violence, including their own which significantly diminishes the power of their statements.

When you say that Muslims pray more...I'll agree that they have more learned statements to recite...Is recitation prayer? You can decide on that one.

Assimilation into western culture demands tolerance of religious beliefs. Our founding fathers who were predominantly Christian (I speak as an American) wrote into our constitution a certain level of tolerance of religious beliefs. We have definitely taken it to an extreme that they never intended.

Radical Muslims state that all other religions are infidels and all practicers of those religions are targets for death. There are clearly different sects within the Islam religion and so there will be different views. We are primarily seeing the "jihad at any cost" sect on the daily news. These are the people who follow the teaching of Sayyid Qutb (bin Laden, etc.). That is bad for muslims in the long run as it has galvanized public opinion to not trust them.

Well duh? Everytime you turn on the television or read the news you hear about yet another terrorist bombing or attempt. And in every single case since 1995 they have been caused by Islamic extremists. What's more you do not hear the Muslim leaders rise up and condemn these attacks. You don't hear Saudi Arabia, or UAE, or Syria condemn these.

So should we close our ears and eyes and pretend that Christians are causing these, or should we pretend that Italians or Brits, or little old ladies are causing the car bombings or beheadings. Maybe little children are behind this? Maybe it's the Leprechaun or Saint Nick. Or let's do the politically correct thing and say that everyone is responsible.

This Christian worked for a Muslim woman for almost 4 years. We became very good friends, though she knew that I was a Christian. We would sometimes get exasperated with each other, but never gave up. She returned to Afghanistan in 1998, and wrote me that she couldn't continue writing me because her husband didn't like it.

I didn't find her physically attractive, but that didn't matter...her submitting to the Taliban culture was more important to her, at the time. I don't know where she is, but I pray for her. She didn't sound happy.

Just sharing a personal story, and I'll let you extrapolate your own conclusions...

Why are Christians subjected to sub citizen conditions, churches destroyed and required to pay more tax in Islamic dominated countries?
Islamic followers here enjoy the freedoms every other religion here enjoys. The question you should be asking is "Why do my fellow followers of Muhamed like to blow up stuff they don't agree with"?
The idea that christians only pray once a week just shows your ignorance of Christianity. Many only go to church once a week but they pray all the time, before bed, before meals, games, anytime there is trial or difficult times. For reassurance and any for any reason, at any time. We are not required to pray 5 times a day, along with our country, our religion has more freedoms too.
Criticizing Islam is brought on by the recent track record of your fellow followers attempts to kill innocent people like at Fort Dix, JFK, and more recently in UK airport and car bombs that didn't go off.

If you can curve these guys appetite for destruction, maybe criticism of the religion would subside.

By ignoring the reason that some people think all Muslims are terrorists, this question is as ignorant as those who think all Muslims are terrorists.

I fully believe that not all Muslims are terrorists, but almost every single terrorist I have read about in the last 5 years has been a Muslim. Does that make it clear enough for you?
