Since atheist "cant" celebrate Christmas I dont see how Christians can celerbrate Independence day. They have no clue what this means:
"When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation"
Argg dont even get me started..

My church does not teach against it, and in fact, seems to encourage it. However, there are some denominations locally that refuse to celebrate Independence Day for the reasons you're already mentioned. They consider themselves not to be a part of this world, and refuse to hold public office, or celebrate nationalistic holidays. In some cases, these groups also will abstain from voting in elections, because such elections are only relevant to man-made "kingdoms", and not the Heavenly kingdom.

LdS in the USA celebrate the 4th of July. LdS in Brazil celebrate the 7th of September. I think it has more to do with culture and nationality than religion.

Christians are suppossed to be followers of Jesus correct?
well did jesus get involved in the world??NO he was seperate, neutral so should true christians today. this would include not getting involved in politics or the decisions of this world.

Absolutely. My dad is a vet, my grandad was a POW in WWII, I have friends serving in Iraq today.
I am thankful for the sacrifices that men and women still make today.
