Pigs are and have always been filthy, wallowing beasts. They have always lived in mud filled with their own droppings, and they have always been prone to sunburn without mud to cover themselves in. Now, if any other animal literally swam in a solution of feces, mud, and lord knows what else for months they'd catch some funky skin disease and die. The reason why they said that and Muslims don't eat pork is because pigs are filthy... period. With the low levels of science they had back then, I wouldn't be surprised to find that it was a mainstream belief that touching a dead, rotten, filthier than a live one pig would cause leprosy or some other disfiguring disease mentioned in the Bible. Therefore, it was merely a prudent preemptive precaution to maintain their own health not to touch dead pigs. Now, as for your football, the modern ones look synthetic. The old ones were made out of pigskin, though. Didn't they treat those somehow to make them usable?? I'm sure they somehow sanitized it to some degree or another....

The old testament does apply to us, but I believe that most of those laws were made for a people who were wandering the dessert with little ability for cleaning up and hygiene, the fact that a pig doesn't have sweat glands makes it more likely to cause a person to get sick, but today's technologies and ability to clean these things up helps alot... and for those who do tell you Jesus freed us from law get them to check out Romans 3:31 (the whole of the chapter puts it in great context...)

Hello,

these laws were brought in because handling or eating pork in hot arid countries is unhealthy cause of worms and parasites in the flesh of the animal. Your pigskin on a football has been trated with heat, chemicals and staining addeded hence no criiters are alive in it.

Jesus said to them, "Don't you understand? Don't you know that whatever goes into a person from the outside can't make him unclean? It doesn't go into his thoughts but into his stomach and then into a toilet." (By saying this, Jesus declared all foods acceptable.) He continued, "It's what comes out of a person that makes him unclean. Evil thoughts, sexual sins, stealing, murderadultery, greed, wickedness, cheating, shameless lust, envy, cursing, arrogance, and foolishness come from within a person." Mark 7:19-22

First of all, footballs are actually made of leather, not pigskin. Secondly, how can a donkey play football, anyway? And where would you find gloves for your hooves?

You're safe--footballs are made of cowhide or a synthetic material, not pig skin. There you have it a perfect 'fundie' answer.

most footballs are made from plastic or vynil not real leather.

If you are pro or in a league you might run into this problem but I'm not sure the leather they use in football's today is made of pigskin.
