Not to sound all technical, but when they use lemons for dishwashing soap (or any other type of soap with lemons), they use the entire lemon -rind and all. When you need just lemon juice for flavoring, it would take a lot of lemons to get that flavor from just the juice. So, they add artificial flavoring to save money.
So, another good question is, why don't they use the leftover lemon "scraps" from making the juice to use in the soap - then they could use more real lemons in the juice!

Good Question !
I'm sure it's because lemon juice is mass produced and needs more lemon then the amount of real lemon added to dish liquid, so it is more economical to use artificial flavor.
Plus I don't think the Artificial lemon would "work" the same as the real lemon in cleaning etc.

Because 'artificial lemon' is just a flavor for a variety of foods and deodorizers. And, in order to clean something 'real lemons' do the job; artificial ones do not.

IS IT REALLY? Wow, that's one I didn't know, but maybe, just maybe, it's because we are able to fool our tastebuds, but not the grease on the plates.(?) There are cleaning properties in citrus fruit rinds that are absolutely superior to most artificial cleansers, maybe we can't copy the synthesis yet? Or it might be cost prohibitive to artificially make what we can extract from waste like lemon rinds, etc. Good question, wish I had a definitive answer.

Good question...I just noticed that on a bottle of lemon juice that I bought. I didn't feel like sqeezing 50 lemons. But from now on I will do just that....I don't think I will ever buy bottled lemon juice again.

100% lemon juice has the highest concentration of citric acid. It is also used in "cleaning" many things like your hands. For example, if you were slicing some onions and wanted to get rid of the smell, just dunk your hands into some lemon juice and the smell is gone!

HAHA!! nice one!
well...um...probably because they can't do otherwise. Maybe they still haven't found a substitute to use instead of the lemons in washing up liquid.
Cheers
