I saw this painting called peace.
It wasnt a beutiful sunset on a crystal beach.
it wasnt a family all together by a christmas tree.
it was a bird, sleeping on a ocean cliff in the middle of a huge storm with waves and lightning pounding around it.
I dont think in the aspect of world peace, there will ever be untill the end. There shall be wars, and rumors of wars.
But if people dont defend peace, it will be taken.
Only insane people like war.
And most solders arnt insane, they hate war too. they just understand the cost of freedom for people to not want it.
(by that I mean "make love not war" typer hipies and people think its possible to have peace talks with insane dictators.

It creates complacency and no desire or motivation to create new technologies. The Cold War was a great tool to get space exploration out of the theoretical category and onto the implementation stages. The World Wars gave birth to many new medical technologies, as well as transportation advancements. If not for the threat of war, do you think any jet would have the capability to absorb radar? Would we have wondered about the possibilities of splitting the atom to yield energy? We learn fascinating things just by being threatened and get motivated to either protect ourselves or destroy someone else.
Is it a tragedy that people die in war? Yes. People die all the time; we all will at some point. Their deaths will have not been in vain if the war they fought made humans as a whole advance to new levels of discovery.

I think people don't think enough about what it takes to make it happen.
For example, can we sustain our peace if others cannot live in peace? How necessary is justice for peace to be obtained? What would it really take to defuse a situation like that which exists in Iraq today?

It will never Happen in our lifetime. Especially in Iraq. Big Joke, If anyone trys to say there will be peace and a democracy there. You can read all about it in Daniel, in the Bible. We will have peace after Jesus comes back and "deals" with satan. May be sooner than we think.

I believe it is a good idea, but unfortuneately that is all it really it, an idea. You can't trully appreciate peace without war can you. Honestly the world need balance and needs both sides of the coin to remain in order, IMO.

Related to "opposite to war" it's great.
Related to "peace of mind" it's great also. To me, that's really the main goal of our existence.
Related to "total silence", sometimes good, sometimes not. When you're tired, peace is fine. But sometimes you need to unwind and go to a loud place (concert, etc.), where "mayhem" suits much better than "peace and quiet".
In a nutshell, it depends on the situation, but if you're talking about war, definitely peace is much better. I don't believe there are "necessary wars"; there are only idiots on top of governments, who don't know how to handle opposite views, and brute force is their only solution.

It's a great concept or goal to strive towards. But in reality, reading the Bible of what was going on 2000 years ago, it still the same game today: war, famine, disease, poverty, slavery, injustice, etc.
The dates have changed, and we now smell better. But civilized?

It does not exist, nor has it ever existed, as long as humans have been on the planet.
War is the default condition of man.
As long as the concept of religion exists, there will never be 'peace'.
There will always be one or more groups that think their 'invisible man' wants them to kill people who believe in a different 'invisible man'.
