I'd look up old fashioned soda shops. Like phosphates and sundaes and such. Also, Jello desserts and aspics were popular around the 20's-30's. If you need a reference, find the book "Perfection Salad". Great book about the early 20th century food.

This sounds like a "sell off cake." this is a terrible call for a reliable take care of. a pal introduced one to a picnic at my domicile years in the past and it became a kin famous. this is how I make it: In a 13" x 9" pan, pour a can of crushed pineapple, juice and all. upload a can of pie filling (i admire blueberry, yet cherry will do suited) Sprinkle the dry contents of a cake blend container (yellow or white are ultimate) on good of the fruit without blending - purely make a layer. Sprinkle a cup of nuts (pecans or walnuts) over all. Drizzle 1 / 4 pound of butter over all (a million/2 a pound in case you like to) Bake at 350 tiers for one hour. be conscious: Use real butter - no substitutes! i like to serve this warm with vanilla ice cream, besides the undeniable fact that it tastes real stable at room temperature an afternoon or 2 later.

Peach Cobbler made with cake mix for the crust. Lemon Ice Box pie. Fruit Salad or what my grandparents call Jello salad cause the fruit is put in the jello before it gels.

Things that your grandmother would make. Mine had:

1. Jello Salad
2. Cinnamon Cake
3. Pepparkakkor
4. Peanut Butter Cookies

Basically anything that would be a classic dessert.
