The absolute best grilled cheese is mozzarella on sourdough. With pepperoni if you're not vegetarian.

You can change to wheat bread =) But seriously there is nothing finer then a simple Grilled Cheese sandwich w/ Tomato soup.

Here are a couple add-ons though...

1)Make grilled cheese sandwich as you normally would, then add bacon bits and mustard before you put top slice of bread on.

2) Add a little honey in between the slices of cheese and then cook as usual.

3) Add a slice of thin Ham or Bologna to it.

4) Sometimes I take the bread, butter it, add Cheese and cook open-faced in the oven, the cheese bubbles up and then gets crispy-brown. I cook it on 350 for about 20min. Once it is done I make a sandwich out of it.

This is bizarre but I like mine on thick hearty white bread with american cheese (preferably the store brand out of the deli, not as salty for some reason...) and just after it is a nice golden brown I slather the top with strawberry jam. BLISS!! OR I like Swiss cheese with a thick slice of ham on white, but I use Miracle Whip in place of the butter or margarine when grilling. You get a nice toast to it and it is a bit tangy. OR Thick slab of italian with a thick slice of mozzerella and a few pepperoni slices I like to do mine on my Foreman grill too, the grill marks are pretty and you get a really nice crunch I go on about this all day, I am a HUGE fan of the grilled Cheese sandwich

I have a few that I like to make. I made one that was italian bread and munster cheese. But instead of using just plain butter, I sprinkled some garlic salt in with the butter and then put that on the bread. The same sandwich is awesome with a couple slices of hard salami in it too. I also made one with cheddar cheese, but when I flipped the grilled cheese, I put parmesean cheese on it and then flipped it back over. The parm. got nice and brown. It added a great flavor to the sandwich. It tastes very good dipped in soup!!

Grilled cheese is easy, it's cheese and bread. You can use whatever you have on hand. The better the quality of the cheese and bread, the better the sandwich is likely to be. You can also liven up your sandwich by adding things you might already have on hand: sliced tomato, or lettuce, or other sliced veggies: I like to add thinly sliced cucumbers to my grilled cheese.

Well, I like to be creative with my sandwiches. Whether they are grilled cheese, or just a regular ham and cheese sandwich.
Grilled cheese sandwiches are really good if you put a couple slices of ham in before grilling. I also, like putting on a couple slices of pickle. Then the ham and pickle are warm and go perfectly in the sandwich.

Another idea to try, if your adventurous is they grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Just take a regular PB & J sandwich, butter the outsides and grill it until the peanut butter starts to melt. Is sure is messy but, it tastes heavenly.

A third Idea is to experiment with different bread / meat / cheese combos. A supurb combo is Dill Rye Bread with Roast Beef and Pepper Jack Cheese. YUMMY!! add a little mustard after grilling if you want. another good combo is Whole Wheat Bread with Turkey Breast and Mozzerola Cheese.

I have one more idea for you... It's a french toast sandwich. what you do is you take your sandwich that is ready to grill, and dip it in an egg mixture (eggs & milk, like for french toast) then grill your sandwich. This is a little bit hard to do and it may take a couple tries before you get it to cook just right. But it is really good!!

Some ingredients to try adding to you sandwich... onion, pickle, olives, cooked bacon, shreaded chicken, cream cheese, peanut butter, or any number of other condiments.

The key to making a good grilled cheese sandwich is to use your imagination. What do you feel like eating at the moment? well, put it on the sandwich. don't be afraid to try new ideas.

Enjoy your grilled cheese sandwiches!!

By the way, just as a liile note. you should try putting blackberry jam on a ham and cheese sandwich. It sounds really bad, but it tastes delicious. I was joking with my sister about trying it, and she did and said it was good. So I tried it and now I'm hooked!

butter, Bread and Cheese... some people like to add a slice of tomato to the middle. Grilled Cheese is easy peasy. butter the bread put the cheese between the non buttered bread side. (i prefer 2 slices makes it cheesey) and wha-la when you have toasted it to perfection (which takes a while to get the hang of) cut and serve with either creamy tomato soup or a fruit dish.

I use deluxe american and provolone with a slice of tomato (sprinkled with oregano) on whole grain bread. Just put a dab of butter in a warm nonstick pan, put one slice of bread in the butter, and swirl around to coat the entire slice. Layer american cheese, tomato, oregano and provolone and then the other slice of bread. Cover to let heat melt cheese and toast bread for about 3 minutes, remove sandwich and place another dab of butter in pan. Turn sandwich over and cover to cook again. If it's not completely melted, I sometimes put it in the toaster oven for a couple minutes. Yummmm!!!

I know this one! Two slices of Italian Style white bread, two slices of Velveeta cheese, butter the outside of the bread and grill...when it's toasty, take it out of the pan pull apart and put a slice of cold tomato inside. A dash of oregano and black pepper and you're golden. Now all you need is the Tomato soup!

The best and only grilled cheese is a hot pepper cheese on wheat bread. Hot pepper cheese melts great - you would love it.
