huh, funny how you don't think of that type of questions 'till someone brings it up. Do they taste different than white?

Red dye #2 was banned as a possible carcinogen. So many things that had the dye, such as M&Ms, red pistachios, stopped making them or changed dyes. M&Ms now use a different dye and red pistachios do too. They still exist, but are very rare. People's habits changed to prefer them natural to artificially dyed.

I still see them occasionally, but I think manufacturers cut way back on them after that scare with Red Dye number 6 a while back. Plus I bet people just think pistachios are healthier when they're not red.

They still have them. Try a farmer's market.
