i have this guy friend that i like he's really sweet and all but he has a girlfriend. He's always saying we'll do things but then he adds when i don't have a girlfriend.

this is just an example he'll go...we have to see that movie but when i don't have a girlfriend..

what do you think he means when he says things like that?

He probably doesn't want his girlfriend getting mad at him for hanging out with another girl (you) while they're dating. And he probably already knows that things aren't going to work out between him and this girl anyway... especially if he's talking about himself being single. Don't worry, he'll straighten out eventually.

He is letting you know that he likes you and trying to gauge your response. By doing so while he still has a girlfriend though makes me think he is just holding you out as a back up plan in case the current girl doesn't work out.

he just means exactly what he says. He knows how girlfriends tend to act when they boyfriend hangs out with female friends. I've been in that position before-as the girlfriend. Whether you like it or not, the girlfriend is bound to get jealous if her guy hangs out with another girl.
I suggest that you go with them and a group of friends when you want to hang out with your guy friend.

That doesn't mean anything and he isn't really making any plans with you he is letting you know that he can't make himself available to do certain things because he has a girlfriend. If he was truly interested in your relationship with him going the Emeril - That's kicking it up a notch - BLAM - he would make other moves and stop mentioning his girlfriend to you.

It means he has a girlfriend and he can't have any friends that are girls. He is trying to hang on to you, while he has a girlfriend so he has a back-up plan.

Forget this looser and move on. You don't need to play his game or be a player in the game.

I think it means that he doesn't know how to have a girlfriend and a female friend. Maybe she's jealous of you and he doesn't want to tick her off by hanging out with you?? You're friends...you HAVE to hang out together!

You're his back up girlfriend in case the other relationship falls though. He's stringing you along. Cut him off before you get deeper into this and hurt even more. You're no one's second best! :)

He might be in the process of leaving her. Be careful that you don't end up being blamed for his leaving her, because she might think you are the reason. Either that or he is teasing. Try not to get too involved because you don't want to be labelled for something that he has planned.
