I'm atheist and i really don't give a dang what religion my doctor is I'm not there to talk religion I'm there to get help with what ever is ailing me that day
when I'm in a doctors office "religion" does not ever come up as it shouldn't

WHAT bothers me is when ppl TRY to change WHO I AM, and shove their bible thumping' views DOWN MY THROAT
and I get it alot and i just straight up tell em how it is, I don't want to hear it IF I WANTED to get preached to I'd go to a church, Since i don't go to church I DON'T want to hear preaching and if people won't open their eyes and realize I AM WHO I AM I WILL NEVER CHANGE, then they don't need to be around me, because it will not be a pleasant experience at all.

I'd have no problem seeing a christian doctor, depending on what you mean by "openly". If the guy yelled at me for being a sinner if I asked for an AIDS test, that might be a little off-putting. If he prescribed prayer, no go. If he ever said "it's in Gods hands now", I'd fire his a**. But if his practice of medicine is separated from his religion, sure.

A psychologist is a little tougher. The same applies; I would if his practice was separate from his (or her) religion. But I think that would be much less common in a psychologist than in a physician. The first time they said the word "God" while I was paying them $100/hr, I'd set sail on my own ark.

By "openly" Christian just what do you mean ? If you mean they will spend the entire evangelizing me, than no.

But if you mean by "openly" Christian that they wear a cross or have religious magazines then yes, I already do. My general care provider wears a cross, so I am assuming he is Christian. He's been my doctor for about 16 years.

Would you be willing to see an openly atheist doctor ?

BTW, I am agnostic, hope you don't mind me answering.

Doctor? As long as he or she intended to leave God out of it and treat me using medical science. Psychologist? It would depend what I needed them for. I understand that 'free will' is a big deal in Christianity, and I would have reservations about seeing a psychologist so unfamiliar with the workings of the human brain that they were able to believe in free will.

Why should it matter what religion a doctor or psychiatrist is? What does that have to do with anything? If my doctor were an atheist I'd still go to them. It's their education & skills as a doctor that I'd be more concerned with than their religion.

Doctor, maybe.
Psychologist, absolutely not. As those who believe in 'god' are suffering from delusions that are a result of mental ilness caused by years of brainwashing, it would not make sense.

im not atheist, but im not christian, and i would not go to a christian psychologist because if you were having problems, instead of helping them, they might just talk to you about god. and a christian doctor, i wouldnt care, actually i think my doctor is christian.

If I need stitches I need stitches. Medicine has no religion.

A psychologist who was openly Christian I would have my doubts about, most psychologists are nuts.

I'm not an atheist (I still have little love for Christians) but I'll bite.

As long as their personal religious beliefs come second to their duty to their patients, then yes.
