they are very reliable.
the v8 models are great for racing and daily driving.
i'm driving a 2007 gt with 900hp every day and it seems to be very reliable..... but it took me hell lot of time and money to make it push out 900horses.
and..... by the way.... my stock gt motor blew up when was making around 645hp with the procharger.

the final solution...... dont boost a stock motor to over 500hp and it will last you forever.....

The problem with your Beetle is not the car, but the fact is was made in Mexico, instead of, say the Rabbit that is built in Germany. Passat's are also made in Germany, unlike the Jetta(also Mexican built, with it's own problems)

You MAY want to take a new Rabbit out for a test spin(unless your present ride has poisioned your view of VW), as a lease is about $189/month, and they start about 15K new, fairly well loaded. The reviews have been very positive on this car.

The Mustang has come a long way in terms of overall quality, and even placed highly on the new JD Power quality survey, but it does come with more than a few pitfalls.

The "live" or solid axle on the rear, is fine for extreme durability, and is really meant for a truck, but in every day driving situations, the rear end being all one solid unit, it tends to hop, or move the entire rear end laterally when a bump is hit when in a corner, or on the hwy. This can be greatly exacerbated(or intensified) when driving in the rain/snow, etc. Without TC, or traction control(especially with so little weight on the rear wheels, this makes for dangerous driving). Putting sandbags, etc in the trunk can make it a little better, but then your carrying around extra weight, which then kills fuel MPG, and prematurely waer out the tires. The overall ride of the new Mustang is not so good, period.

Insurance on a Mustang, regardless of engine will be much higher, regardless of what any sales-person is telling you. Contact who you have your insurance with presently, and ask them how much your premiums wil change. Stay away from the V-8's especially, as they suck fuel like a rocket, regardless of what those EPA claims are(THAT's why they have that disclaimer:"you mileage will vary, Hwy milage will probably be less", and it WILL)

If I were you, you may look at a 2-3 year old car which someone else has taken the depreciation hit, and you still get the factory warranty. Toyota and Honda are the only two Japanese cars I would recomend, and I really in good faith could not recommend an American car to anyone. Their bottom line has always been the profit margin, making the cars as cheap as possible, with the biggest MSRP. The real deal is, when you MAKE a quality product, your customers come as a function of that, and THEN comes the $$$$$$.

Good Luck!

The VW beetle got horrible reliabillity reviews from consumer reports so Im not suprised your having trouble. It has really gotten to the point of absolute stupidity the things people like Kyle say that absolutely no fact or a single thread of truth to it. He said middle reliabillity. Absolutely false, there is not a single publication in existance that gives the V8 05-07 mustang anything below a better then ave ratting for reliabillity including consumer reports who has rated the 06 and 07 gt mustangs as a "best buy" Consumer reports didnt rate any part of the mustang below ave inculding engine, ac, transmission, power eqiup, body integrity, and so on. The stang had 8 different catagories recieve the highest possible rating consumer reports gives. To those who doubt consumer reports accuracy ( I dont see how you can) according to car and drivers 06 november issue in which they did a survey of over 10k certified usa mechanics over 82% of the mechanics said consumer reports was the best publication available for determining the reliabillity of cars and the quatlity of there components. The next closest publication only recieved 3%of the first place votes. Also "not sporty", "slow", and poor gas milage. More absolutey stupid and ignorant responses. There are no other words to describe what was said, just stuipid with not a single fact base answer. The v8 mustang is the QUICKEST new car you can buy for the money. You can purchase a brand new V8 stang for 25k and it will do the 1/4 mile in 13.5 seconds and has 300hp and 310tq. In the entire world there is not a new car you can purchase for 25k that is quicker. So how can you call that slow?? Only one explanation, ignorance or maybe jelousey. There is also not another single vehical in the world that you can purchase new for 25k or less that has more hp or tq. Then to say its a gas guzler. The v8 stang gets better then 20mpg, I am pretty sure its close to 25. How is this a gas guzzler?? For a v8 300hp car to get over 20mpg is awsome. For those who say that even though the epa rates it at this is doesnt get it. You are WRONG. It does get this if you drive noramally and shift at the correct rpms. Now if you drive more agressively or shift at higher rpms constantly, Yes, your mpg gets worse. Guess what though, this is the truth with every other vehical on the planet as well. So the 20+ mpg rating is just as accurate as any other mpg rating any other vehical gets. So to answer your question, since 1998 the v8 mustangs are extremely reliable, some of the most reliable vehicals on the road according to consumer reports. Expecially from 2004 until now, the v8 stangs are probally in the top 5% of most reliable vehicals on the road. As previously stated the v6 stangs are less reliable then the v8 stangs. They are still a reliable vehical though but that is only with the newer models (2003 and newer) according to consumer reports in the years prior to 2003 the v6 stangs are ave reliabillity and even for 2003 and 2004 they are just very slightly above ave, but pretty much just ave for reliabillity. The 2005 and newer are a little better though for the v6's. What ever route you choose you will be happy, I deffinately reccomend the v8 stang for a fast, fun, and reliable car.

To "dodge man" I just wanted to give you credit for giving an accurate fact based answer. It shows you have a lot of integrity and give your answers based on fact and research instead of opinions and fiction. I just want to let you know its appreciated and now I know to resepect and trust your answers when I see them.

To David, YOU ARE A LIAR. Per consumer reports 2007 new car guide which is right in front of me the 2007 gt mustang is a best buy and reiceves a better then average expected reliabillity. The 2006 also recieved a better then average reliabillity. Like previously stated per consumer reports, no gt mustang after 98 recieved a below ave reliabillity rating, you are a pathetic liar.

i bought the 07 mustang convertible v6 two weeks ago..i love it so far...handles perfect in turns...brakes are perfect...handling and accelerating has been exceptional...100 times better than any other car ive ever had...im getting 15.8 miles per gallon of gas so that might be the only downfall but much worth it for the style and performance of the car...also the mustang has just upped their warranty to 5 years roadside assistance which i dont plan on needing hopefully...when companies raise the years/milage of their warranties its usually because they havent had problems with their model in the past so it makes it look like a big deal...i got the convertible but im sure the coupe (anywhere from 6-10k $ cheaper) handles the same if not better

p.s. the ACTUAL MODEL YOU BUY you should never have problems with..probably one of the most reliable cars out there...the thing is if you start messing with the engine and adding superchargers on the car..which alot of guys do because its a muscle car and they want speed...THEN THATS WHERE THE PROBLEMS HAPPEN

I know people who own regular mustangs, that are reliable, but no one who owns the GT500, the GT500 is fast but has the simplest of suspension in the world of cars, i suggest with your money to buy a Roush Mustang, with about 40-50 less horsepower you get such better suspension and its cheaper, im not sure on the price though, in terms of looks there the same and in the roush you get racing parts. I also like the mustang.

The Mustang has been awarded the best sports car of 2007. Ford has also just beat Nissan and is equal to Toyota in reliability. Consumer reports have also said the Mustang is a very reliable car since the 90's. Since the newer one is the most updated and advanced, then your answer is yes they are very reliable. They also get pretty good gas mileage for a sports car. http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/

Yes they are. The V8s are supposed to be more reliable than the V6, but the V6 is the same V6 used in the Explorer and Ranger and I own a Ranger and love the engine and my mom drives and explorer and likes hers too. Niether of us have had any problems with either car. So if the V8 model is more reliable than the V6, then the V8 must be pretty darn good.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT Coupe. It is my husband's daily driver and he LOVES it. It has only had one problem, and that was under warranty and fixed in less than 1 hour - there was a computer glitch and the ecu had to be reflashed. It's fast, looks great, and gets 25mpg on the highway. Good car! Good luck!
