No - you're hair doesn't get darker after a perm. If anything a perm roughs up the cuticle a bit & makes your hair more prone to fading when exposed to sunlight.
People w/ jet black hair should take care to keep their hair conditioned & protect their hair when going outside to prevent their permed hair from becoming lackluster.

no you really shouldnt lose your natural highlights and your hair wont get darker. the only thing that a perm does is add chemicals into the hair that makes it more resistant to things like the sun.

If anything, it lightens the hair. Always color before you perm to avoid the perm chemicals from altering your color. Make sure to use conditioner regularly.

After I added a relaxer to my hair my hair became lighter.
