Electric toothbrushes do an awesome job and are very helpful too, especially for people with braces, elder patients that don't have dexterity, and anyone that wants to clean their teeth that much better than with just a regular toothbrush . Your Orthodontist would not have recommended it otherwise. If a bracket does come off alert your Orthodontist as soon as possible because the sooner it is fixed the sooner the braces can resume doing their duty. It is not unheard of to knock off a bracket or two, but if you are continually knocking them off you will need to evaluate what you are in the habit of doing that is knocking them off. Most times it is not the toothbrush knocking them off, more so it is something your are eating that might be hard, but your Orthodontist should have given you a list of foods to cut up or avoid while in braces. Good question :o)
Good luck and hang in there.

No they are great for braces. I like the Oral B Braun because of the different heads you can get. They actually have a head for Ortho. There is also one that is pointed for getting between the teeth and around tight areas. Get the rechargeable one though. It is more effective than the kind with the battery you change out. Change the heads about every 2-3 months. Hitting all the metal makes the bristles wear down quicker I would think. So probably every 2 months. Use it every time you brush. It is slow and effective and that is very important to help you remove all the harmful food and plaque. Good luck.

LOL, IF THIS BRUSH WOULD DO ANY HARM IN ANY WAY TO YOUR GUMS OR BRACES DO YOU THINK THE DENTIST WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR YOU?
HE'S SEEN YOU'RE NOT DOING A GOOD JOB BRUSHING AROUND THE BRACKETS AND THE GUM LINE, SO HE WANTS BETTER FOR YOU.
I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND THE SONICARE BRUSH, BUT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER GOOD MODELS ON THE MARKET.
I ALSO RECOMMEND THE WATERPIK MACHINE WHICH IS FAST AND EASY TO USE TO FLUSH ALL THE GUNK THAT GETS TRAPPED AROUND THE BRACKETS.
IF YOU CAN ONLY AFFORD ONE, GET THE WATERPIK.
FYI THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ALSO USE IT. MY PATIENTS LOVE THIS MACHINE.
