They are a national security threat. Maybe not that high of a percentage, but if you look at peace rallies vs. Hamas or Hezbolla rallies it is in the ballpark. When they are surveyed it come up close to half that think terrorism is sometimes justified.
That isn't a misconception at all. If you wish to change it, change it on the other side. Don't tell us we shouldn't notice.

The media definitely has a role in this ignorance and racism against Islam, and like others said, I really wish religious tolerance can be taught in schools in the future, that would definitely be beneficial.

because most americans want to see an muslim person straped with a bomd to there chest than except that not all of the muslims are like the suicide bombers and belifes such as that...
most americans dont know that not all muslims are suicidal maniacs, the view of the muslim religion portrayed to the american public, is a view given to us by the conglomorate of national media sources, telling us only about the muslims who wish to watch things go boom.
they dont really focus on the non-violent sect of the religion because if they do...to be frank....no one will care about them...
they really only care about the muslim who is a sucidal, maniac, with ager problems...
thats one reason why most of the american public has no clue as to the other half of the religion...
and i really wish our school would teach rel;igious tolerance....im going into my sophmore year...and i can say that i really want my friends and other students to learn about other religions...

First, no main-stream media outlet has EVER said that 98% of all muslims are a national security threat.
Second, 99.9% of all terrorists are, or at least claim to be, muslim. That's a statistic you can't argue, and it is the basis for a reasonable fear of Islam.
If you won't open your eyes and see what's going on, you're doomed to making bad decisions for the rest of your life.

Do you know how many islamic sheikhs , kings, princes, and monarchs own some of the american media?
Im glad the media is portraying them as terrorists, because if the media didn't , how would we know? we wouldn't.
There is no tolerance in that religion, how can you teach it to kids in american schools?
hello the majority of terrorist attacks committed by muslims. suicide bombings committed by muslims....why is it such a crime to say islam promotes hate and terror?
go read the koran, go read sahih el bukhari, go read al sira el nabawiya, go read the tafsirs for the koran. dont just talk crap and say "ohh dont blame muslims".
as long as they continue wagin war in the name of god, killing in the name of mohamed, and hating in the name of islam, we are gonna conitnue blaming their backwards minds.

For the same reason there is so much ignorance of America in the Islamic world, the leaders of both sides don't care about the truth, they only want power, and keeping the people stupid gives them power.

And when I see acts of violence and murder committed by muslims against non-muslims, multiple times a day,I don't give a damn about knowing anything about a primitive culture.
The media only shows a fraction of the atrocities that muslims commit, every day.
Though not all muslims are terrorists, ALL of the terrorists are muslim

It is personal responsibility to understand or not. There's a lot to understand and to get it right and differentiate between people who use it for their hate agenda vs. the sweet, kind Muslims requires an ounce of effort, not many people want to exert that in a world where the goal is to make more money to get more "stuff" to make more money to keep the "stuff".

I don't think all Islamic people are terrorists but a lot of the attacks have been by Islamic people.
