Why is it that strawberry flavored anything is pink in color? Strawberries are naturally red.

So you can tell the difference between strawberry flavoring and cherry (deep red) flavoring.

The main reason strawberry is often color-coded as being pink is so that consumers won't confuse it with something that's CHERRY flavored which is red throughout, whereas strawberries have a somewhat pinkish flesh on the inside of the fruit.

Perhaps because red coloring is already used for things "cherry" flavored.
