It relates to my computer desktop screen display. Please follow my ridiculously elementary apporach in asking a question, but:
1-After going to "Start", then "Settings", then " Control Panel" then "Display", I then see the "Display Properites"screen. At this screen, I chose the "Desktop" toobar/button. I then see a picture of my current destkop picdture. Below the picture is a set of "BACKGROUND" icons which holds various other types of pictures. MY QUESTION IS: How Do I delete all of these optional desktop pictures, some of which Windows provided and some which I added later. It does no goo to right click, thinking one can delete them. It doesn't work. I have tried on and off for a year..and still....(dummy me) I cannot delete these pics. Any advice out there (short of telling me to sell my computer and b ecome a monk?) thank you

This pictures my friend are links to the pictures on your computer, so if you want to delete them you have to find where they are at, like for example, your pictures folder.. transfer all your pictures to an other folder with a different name than my pictures, do the same with windows based wallpapers find them first and go from there

Sell your computer and become a priest. JK

I believe the only way to remove the images is to remove the file stored on the hard drive, I would not remove the ones provided by Microsoft, these images may be used for someting else in the OS and it would be horrible to have to reinstall because you removed a pic.

I believe even if you remove the picture from the HDD you will still have the option to choose it in the dispplay setting but when you select it, it will say that it is not available. My guess would be that the only way to remove the selection from the display properties menu would be to do some registry editing.

the desktop background photos, by default are stored in C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

However a wallpaper image can exist anywhere on the system.

Suggest you use find files/folders, type in the file name you see in the properties box with a .* at the end. Example "wind.*", then you can just delete the file from the search window.

Trick: you can right click on any unused space on your desktop, select properties to get to display properties. You don't need to go in via the control panel all the time.

The pictures that came with it should be in "start" then "my
computer" then "local disk C" then "windows" i wouldnt delete them i would make backup folder and move them from windows to the backup folder then after awhile if all went smooth i would delete but make sure you truly dont need them
before deleting them.

If you're running windows go to START then go to MY PICTURES. You should see all the saved pictures in your computer. You'll have to right click on each picture and then go to delete. You will have to delete each picture seperately.
