2-5 pounds per week is a reasonable goal for weight loss. Now that you have that goal, add the exercise of walking, jogging, aerobics, bike riding to your schedule. You need to literally write this down with a timeslot in order to take it serious enough and to make it a "no excuse" appointment.
When adding an exercise to you life, you also must incorporate a balanced diet of protein, carbs and low fats. Along with these 3 familiar category comes the adequate amount of water (6-8 glasses per day) and adequate sleep (7-9 hours). Please take a glass of water sometime before your workout to release/flush impurities and raise your metabolism.
these items are not my personal ideas, but the same ideas that you would get from reading Muscle & Fitness magazine, Shape, Prevention and visiting your doctor. If you are 40 pounds or more overweight (over your ideal weight) PLEASE, PLEASE check with your doctor before you begin. He/she will verify your present condition to see if you are prepared for the new program. DON'T BE CHEAP, here. See your doctor to let them know you intentions.
It is better to be safe NOW, then to be SORRY later.
Good luck in your new lifestyle!

You can buy The Hollywood Diet at most stores. It comes in a quart bottle and claims you can lose 10 pounds in a weekend. It will be mostly water weight. Never tried it myself. You can also take a diuretic to lose 5 pounds of water fast. This is dangerous if you over do it, but safe to just lose a quick 5 pounds for a special occasion. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Sounds counter-intuitive, but witholding water makes your body hang onto it more. The weight will come right back within a week or so, but this will get you through whatever special occasion is coming up.
For a more natural approach, try eating lots of salad (skip the cheese, croutons, and full-fat dressing) and other non-starchy veggies, baked or broiled chicken or fish, and boycott anything made with flour or sugar. This will speed the weight off, and you can do anything for a week, right? When you resume eating normally, the weight might creep back on, but it's a good quick fix. Good luck!

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurities come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.com

The bottom line is that each pound has an equivalent of 3,500 calories. So to lose one pound you have to cut that much out; BUT that does NOT mean you starve yourself. The healthiest way is to not fad diet but to change your style of eating. Typically 2 pounds is safe to lose a week and if you are obese than 4-5 would be a good start then it will plateau. I have found that be sensible with eating small portions continually beginning within 30 minutes of getting up (it kick starts your metabolism) so it is so true about breakfast being the most important meal of the day... otherwise you "starve" your body and it feeds on your muscle which will cause the improper weight loss and when it is gained back, it comes back faster and worse. Also, cut back on sodium as much as possible and drink lots of water! (I add lemon to my water to help me drink it since I don't like water by itself). Eating veggies and staying away from carbs like bread and sugar will help too. There are lots of websites that will help to guide you based on your target weight and sensible eating of small meals (every 2 hours or so) from breakfast to about 7 p.m. It isn't good to eat late at nite either as you will typically not burn it off before going to bed and it goes right with you! Hope this helps and good luck!
P.S. The tip on drinking water now is that you take your weight and divide it by 2 and that is how many ounces you should drink... it used to be 64 oz. but now most suggest the other. I would do a minimum of 64 and build up to the other. :)

Stop eating carbs...of course the weight will come back when you starting eating them again, but its okay for a temporary fix when you're short on time
