Many theists fall into the catergory of believing in a "God of the gaps". That is, if you don't understand it, it must be the work of god.

The latest Scientific American has a wonderful article on the beginnings of life, based on far smaller and simpler building blocks than RNA. The developing "M" theory is set to give a far greater understanding of the beginning of the universe.

Is god about to start running out of gaps?

Definitely. But that won't stop the ignorant from continuing to squirm about into even the tiniest of gaps in order to escape the factual.

The M theory is very interesting reading but it is still yet a theory. God will never run out of gaps because God and science can coexist. Just because it can be explained scientifically does not mean that God did not have a hand in it. Science is the foundation of learning and understanding but that does not minimize ones belief in the divine power of God.

When I am asked about my belief in science and God I typically use the rainbow discussion I know scientifically that a rainbow is caused by dispersion of sunlight as it goes through raindrops. The light is first refracted as it enters the surface of the raindrop, reflected off the back of the drop, and again refracted as it leaves the drop. The overall effect is that the incoming light is reflected back over a wide range of angles, with the most intense light at an angle of 40°–42°. The angle is independent of the size of the drop, but does depend on its refractive index. I also know as a christian what rainbow means to my faith, a promise of a loving God. The two can coexist and those who do not believe are not of superior intellects and the same goes for believers it is a different belief and that is all. Remember when talking about scientific theory there is just as much proof to a theory as there is to religious beliefs that is why they are not scientific laws.

Science disproves religion more and more every day. Some people are just more secure in clinging to old beliefs.

Heck man, Religion is not the only outdated concept people cling to. Do you realize that there is still a "Flat Earth Society"? That's right! See for yourself.

Wonderful article or wild speculation? But I'm sure it's something that science will "someday" figure out (the typical "no-god of the gaps" explanation).

I know he's at least getting caught in a squeeze as the gaps disappear. The squeeze is what I call the theists state of god. Thanks for the info on the "M" theory. Sounds exciting. This is where all DNA correction will occur if this is what I think it is.

I do not think so. Filling in the gaps of missing knowledge and growing in our understanding of things is our very quest for God.

I think all science serves this purpose. It is our arrogance that tries to deny His Existence!

God already did. Gappers just haven't figured it out yet.

God never has and never will have any gaps at all. Evolution has all the theoretical gaps.
