Her name was Francoise. She wasn't just his girlfriend but his long time live-in mistress and the mother of three of Picasso's children.
If you would like to hear the complete story, at least from her point of view, try reading her autobiography 'Surviving Picasso.' Although I never saw it I believe it was made into a movie several years ago with Anthony Hopkins as Picasso.

Picasso met Francoise Gilet during the German occupation of Paris, she was twenty-one, he was sixty-two. They were together for ten years until 1953, She was a beautiful young woman and a talented artist, and as turned out, the only one of Picasso's six live- in lovers to have left Picasso of her own accord - she could not stand his moods and abusive behaviour - and to have had a successful life "after Picasso". She achieved success as an artist and went on to marry Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine. Gilot had two children with Picasso, Claude and Palermo.
Picasso painted all his lovers in a different style. He painted Francoise Gilot as a flower-woman, because of her plant-like beauty. He would accentuate the slenderness her body and neck and the narrowness of her waist and show her hair as a crown of petals.
