HE is a german shepard and he smells like crap

Use a dog shampoo or Johnson's baby shampoo. Those would be the best. Also, a dog is a dog, no matter what you wash it with, it will still smell like a dog.

It may be time to get him professionally groomed. Most breeders recommend that you take a dog to the groomer at least twice a year. The groomer will be able to get to the root of the smelling problem. Also, you mentioned he smelled "like crap." If you meant that literally, he may need his anal glands expressed, which is a service the groomer can provide.

I use a very strong smelling shampoo (like my dog's smells like coconut) that also prevents dandruff. (sadly I forgot what it was called)

hey! I have agerman shepherd also and, same as the previous anser, i would recoment johnsons baby shamnpoo because it doesnt hurt their eyes and it makes em smell good
