Is it safe to use the radio switched 12v to feed a relay which in turn will provide power to a playsation 2 from the constant 12v from the radio?

It is the slimline one which runs off 8.5v but I have the car power adaptor.

no dont do that you will over load the circuit and possibly cause damage to both your stereo and ps2. if you are going to do it like that you need to run a seperate cabel streight from your battery with an inline fuse on it to protect the circuit. you can do this by runniong the cable through your bulkhead and attaching the ground to the car body exactly the same as if you were going to wire in an amp

Best to use a converter they have professional ones that go hooked up stragint to your car battery but if your on a budget they also sell this protable converters at radio shack or wallmart that hook up straight into your cigarette lighter and the other end is a plug for any household electrical item at radio shack item # would be 22-154

get an inverter, this will save alot of hassle and it will also have some type of protection built into it. Check out autotoys.com or crutchfield to find such an inverter.

The inverter converts 12v to 110 or 120v and is safe for devices like that.

if you have the new ps2, you will notice that it runs off of 12v dc... i would run a wire from the fuse box, but the radio wire w\should be fine also
