It's certainly not supposed to be that way. According to St. Paul, there is One Body (The Church) - "One Lord, one faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all."
Unfortunately, The Church is equally a human and divine institution. Unfortunately, the human part generally wins out.
Such sadness.

It isn't because it's divisive, necessarily. Well, maybe the many denominations is an example of that. But many denominational Christians recognize that people from other denominations are still Christians.
As for racially divided churches, that's ONLY because people of other races worship differently. It's the same God, and they're still Christians, but the entire structure of the services is different. Not bad, just different.
I've attended "black" churches, and I think they're amazing. Those people have such SPIRIT, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the music!
When I was younger, I attended a church that had a black church that used our building for their services. Many times, we had combined services, and they were always incredible.

Christianity is not divisive. Look around the secular world, people being gunned-down in the streets, rape, assault, drug use.
"don't go into that hood man, they will kill you".
Whites killing blacks, blacks killing whites, Asian and Mexican gang violence.
Christians might disagree on doctrine, and some avoid others because they might think the other group is a cult.
Other groups fellowship a few times a year, but keep on 'their side of the fence'.
Others agree to disagree.
The problem with the Christian crowd is that we are still human, as God made us. He made also made us individuals, to think and interpret things in our own way, even though they might not be 100% ccorrect.
Christians also hang out together along cultural lines.
While I could go to a Korean church, it wouldn't do me much good if I don't speak Korean. They might have cultural stuff to reach their own culture that I would find weird or uncomfortable with.
I lived in the deep south for a long time. I went to a white Baptist church. We invited the black Baptist church over for worship on Sunday. Things were kind of 'tense', since much of the congregation was the over 50 crowd, and had lots of baggage.
This was unprecedented for the area. We then went to their church on the 'other side of the tracks' (literally), later that year. Again, a little tense, but we got along. We just had to be careful in their 'hood'.
If we were not Christians, there would have been blacks hanging from trees, and whites found in dumpsters.
Christianity DOES bring us together.

Yes it is that devisive. Yet, it is not as bad as it sounds. Most of these denominations and sects and traditions believe the same thing and are just what we call independent of a denominational label. The reasons many of these independants use is that they do not want to be controlled by the money issues of having a large mother church hierarchy and the freedom of preaching "as the Lord directs." Therefore, many church leaders choose to be free of the pressures of denominational structure, but believe in what many denominations preach.
So, yes there are many denominations, but the divisions are not as extreme as it may seem. hope that helps. God bless.

Yes, this is true. There are black and white churches & if you'll notice very few black ppl go to Catholic churches....and there is a reason for that.
There may be a sprinkle of salt & pepper every now and then, and they are welcome, but as a whole the majority of membership is either black or white.
There are some "mixed" churches that have an equal amt of members of every race though that are quite nice, but this is not the majority.

First of All Christianity is for Everyone. Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Yes, there are many many different Christian Churches because we all come from different back grounds and worship in our own neighborhoods in our own ways. God loves diverseness afterall He created us to be different. The important thing is that we honor Him. Unfortunately there are people out there who claim to be Christians but are racist or bigoted.
The only division that Christianity should bring is Righteousness vs. Sin. Jesus Said in Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
It is obvious many people are always pointing out the negative. They fight against Christianity because for some reason it offends them. They spend their precious time denouncing our Faith. I guess they have nothing better to do but to cause doubt and unbelief. We Christians need to pray that their eyes would be opened as Saul's were. Saul got a new name of Paul and became one of God's greatest instruments for the kingdom.

It was never supposed to be that way. Jesus didn't come to set up religions, he came to establish a relationship between God and man. However man's sin nature always finds a way to mess things up. When we stand before God he is not going to ask what denomination are you? He wants to know if you believe in his Son or not?
John 3:36” He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
Don't let people mess up your view of God. Jesus said Follow ME.
Matthew 4:19 " And he saith unto them, FOLLOW ME, and I will make you fishers of men."
God Bless You.

Apparently so.... The two ethnicities prefer to worship in different ways. Black churches tend to be loud and boisterous. White churches tend not to be.

You cannot compare the nature of man and his ego to that of Christ. Christianity is not the divider sin is. People can divide themselves in any forum not just religion.
