So far I have been told that Egypt still has some sun in February but I wouldn't mind a couple of options. Ideally not more then 4 or 5 hours from the UK.

Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) are still warm about 70F.

To get really hot temperatures would have to be Egypt or somewhere in the Caribbean.

Seville would probably be a good choice, and is about 2 hours from Britain, as is Morocco.

South Africa (especially Cape Town) is also an excellent choice. I know it is a trek to get there (12 hours) but you can get a night flight from Britain, sleep all the way there and wake up on another continent. You wouldn't even notice you have been travelling all that time.

Virgin and South African airlines do very good deals.

The weather at that time of year will be excellent (just like the Mediterranean in August) and it is a very interesting country to visit.

Take a look at the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/features/top10_sunspots.shtml as they list the top ten spots for some winter sun. This might give you some idea. However, if you want winter sun without flying more than 5 hours, you're limited to the Med. You may also want to consider mainland Europe. The further east you go, the hotter it will get and cities like Prague and Budapest are great places to visit.

I know you said not more than 4-5 hours from UK but if you ever can get a chance, Florida in the states is warm all year around and it is nothing but beaches on all sides so you are pretty safe to go anywhere for a little tropical relaxation.

The southern Hemisphere has summer over that period, and there is plenty to go around in February in South Africa & Australia, if not op for a country that lays more in the middle of the 2 hemispheres, those countries doesn't really have changes in their seasons and you will find it quite warm in Novmeber.

Enjoy your holiday whichever you choose.

Come to Texas. I had my baby on February 24th, and when I came home from the hospital, it was 80 degrees. The weather in this state is ever-changing.
