The poles are shifting or appear to be, but that isn't as terrible as one might think. The poles block radiation and solar winds from stripping the atmosphere. However, we know this has happened many times before on Earth. When the poles are shifting, the magnetic field becomes less pronounced. This would allow increased radiation to reach the Earths surface perhaps resulting in more cancer cases. It would also permit some stripping of the atmosphere, but the fact that we have an atmosphere now is proof that is the stripping isn't sufficient to eliminate the atmosphere.

This isn't the first time the earth has gone through magnetic pole swapping, and it won't be the last. Essentially what happens is that the Earth's molten core slows down and moves in "unusual" ways. In case you didn't know, the Earth's active core is the reason why we have a magnetic field and an atmosphere.
Anyway, basically within the next thousand years or so the Earth will go through a period where there will be several poles in our field. There are a few known facts associated with is, which include the presence of various aurora borealis throughout the planet, your compass will become useless, and there will be greater exposure to UV rays (so wear sunscreen). This will NOT cause the end of the world or humanity. There have been ZERO extinctions related to magnetic pole swapping. After that period, which could last a few thousand years, everything goes back to normal. Though south will be north and north will be south. Better re-adjust your compasses.
However, global warming is a completely different beast. This is caused by greenhouse effect and there being too much CO2 in the air.

NO. initially, we've not got any reason to think a magnetic container reversal might impact the Earth's temperature. 2d, it hasn't occurred yet--and an effect (international warming, subsequently) can't preced the reason (a hypothetical magnetic container reversal). that's between the main common--and absolute--common rules of the universe. third, such hypothesis is what's talked approximately as an "advert hoc" hypothesis. it relatively is a hypothesis positioned forth because of the fact the speaker refuses, for regardless of reason, to settle for shown info. subsequently, this is been shown international warming is genuine and is commonly brought about by people. there is not any debate--and all the "skeptics" that shop dreaming up selection hypotheses in basic terms practice their lack of information.

There seems to be some valid points for both sides.

Earth's magnetic field reversals mimicked in the lab
Science – Every few hundred thousand years or so, the Earth's north and south magnetic poles switch places. No one knows what triggers these geomagnetic field reversals, but a team in France has now reproduced them in the lab.

My own personal opinion is , it was foretold in scripture. The ends of time.
So that all factors are contributing to the global warming.....after all I believe it says in the Bible the earth will not be destroyed by flood ever again..hence the sign is the rainbow. It will be destroyed as if by fire. There is the global warming theory.

ummmm not unless the shifting of Earth's magnetic polls is responsibe for the pollution that is causing environmental damage.

Warming has increased rapidly, more than the poles have shifted. http://www.accuweather.com/global-warming/index.asp

NO... it's not true, so why are you posting your question as if it's already an acknowledged fact.
Reversal of the poles would cause a loss of the atmosphere and the ending of life on the earth... but that is NOT what is happening.
Although you are welcome to your OPINION.. you are NOT welcome to your 'FACTS'... so if you are going to post this kind of nonsense that you posted... then at least say it is YOUR OPINION.
