Of those of you who profess to 'Support the Troops', how many of you have actually DONE something to support the troops? Aside from sticking a Made in China decal on the back of your car, that is?

How many of you have just shaken the hand of a GI in an airport?

How many of you have offered up the use of your cell phone to a GI returning from Iraq?

How many of you have volunteered at: The USO, a VA hospital, or a military Family Support Center?

How many of you have had the guts to speak out against an unjust war and the deaths of over 3,000 of our sons and daughters?

How many of you have had the guts to speak out against the folly of diverting the troops to Iraq for a needless death yet leave UBL to run free in Afghanistan or Pakistan where they are TRUE HEROES and HEROINES for a JUST CAUSE that virtually the entire world supported?

I've done all of the above. Have you done even one??

Stand and be counted, or sit down and just shut up!

Aside from speaking out against the war, which I don't do because I'm actually quite okay with it.

I support my father, my boyfriend, my friends, my brother when he was still alive. I send care packages, I offer advice, I care for their families while they are gone. I lend my shoulder to cry on for anyone who has served and for their families. I help the kids understand what is going on with their moms and dads. I help support the guys and gals with PTSD and the ones having a hard time readjusting.

Do you really think speaking out against the war boosts the morale of our troops? You want to talk about killing any and all hope they have, and morale they have by making them feel like this is senseless? Some military man you were. Put yourself in their place you a**.

If they signed up AFTER the war started, they signed up for a reason knowing full well they could be deployed. So instead of throwing your opinion of "Senseless" death which by the way, up yours for making ANYONE feel like their loved ones died for no reason. Why don't you try shutting up and just being kind and not speaking out about it?

I keep quite active with Troop support and staying involved with military organizations (VA-VFW-AL-MM etc), but I don't feel I need to justify it, boast about it or make it known to anyone other than those I support. I don't go around looking for a pat on the back, I do it from the heart and don't expect to be applauded for it.
Somehow looking for recognition for good deeds seems to take away from the true essence of what is being done.
God Bless America our Troops and Commander in Chief !!!

would you have liked to be in the world trade centers when 9-11 happened? no. would you like it to happen again? no. if terrorists waged a war in our homeland, wouldn't you want Britain and Russia to help. yes. we are giving them their freedom like how WE got ours. our allies from France and Spain came over and won us our freedom. they sure didn't have to, but what did that matter to them? they had powerful armies. look where we are now. we live in the best country in the world. also, now we are in a war too. the same thing is happening. the u.s. army is the strongest in the world. maybe we're not they're ally necessarily, but because everybody in the world deserves their freedom, we came over. they know what they're doing going to west point or Annapolis. its for the protection of YOU and the freedom of others. its whats right

No offense if you join the military you are going to get treated like crap. That is like foregone conclusion; They don't get paid enough among other things. I am not happy about it at all, but there isn't much I can do except elect a president who doesn't go to war in the next election. When you join the military they OWN you, like a stock or some property, or a piece of equipment. They OWN you, people don't get that, they don't want you to die but if you do you were just like a machine gun that stopped working. However a lot of family is in the army and I THANK them whenever I can. I would never join though becasue it's not meant for some people. If you want to be independent and self employed, or want your privacy don't JOIN. ALSO I have participated in PROTESTS over this nutty war.

This is a very good question, I for one am a SOLDIER..I HAVE spent my time in IRAQ and will do it again in a heart beat...send me back...but on a lighter note as a Military Police Soldier, i have noticed that even though a lot of people do care about the troops and care about what is going on in the world, they tend to forget that all the good that they take for granted was given to them via a soldiers blood...the greatest and proudest moment(s) for me as a soldier was coming home on R and R and getting off that airplane in Dallas with many other soldiers and getting into the main part of the airport and just able to see every person around that gate just stand there watching us get off that plane and cheer and clap for us..no matter who we were...i thought that was amazing!! and i comend everyone for being supportive of us! THANKS

I support the troops by being a strong, supportive, faithful Air Force spouse. My husband is currently deployed to Kuwait and it is tourture, but I don't let him see that. I stay strong and make sure he knows that everything is fine and taken care of while he is doing his job. I love him more than my own life, he is my best friend and he is the bravest man I know. I also send care packages once a week to him and to twenty other people in his squadron.

I thank them in person when ever possible. I believe in what they are doing. I would never give them a back handed compliment like, "Thank you, although I think you are not fighting in a just war".

I am sick of crappy whiney liberals who claim to be patriotic. They are all pathetic. Our troops deserve our support, ALL OF IT, and not an ounce less. They are putting their lives on the line EVERYDAY so that the whiney liberals on YA can put them down and call them unjust.

I have a Support the Troops license plate.
I buy phone cards to send to them.
I've bought and created gift baskets for them.
I participated in events where we went to armories and provided a day of fun for their children and wives.

But you're right, I haven't done any hands on stuff for the actual troops. I often think about going to the VA hospital. I love to hear their stories, etc. But I'm not good with people that are in pain so I need to find another outlet.

I have made numerous care packages and sent them to our troops, as well as my husband....I do all I can do to be a supportive, encouraging, and faithful wife of a military man. Oh, and I refuse to buy the magnets, as I know unless otherwise stated, they are indeed made in China. So there.

For the purists, to "help" your group they might desire to be waiting to hearken to your vocal help. A "supporter" is going to video games. in spite of the fact that "supporter" and "fan" are such hackneyed words as to be purely approximately meaningless. A "fan" would desire to be somebody who's "fanatical" some soccer group and this choose not exclude people who in no way pass to video games. the complication is it may additionally be used to describe somebody who does no greater advantageous than examine the outcomes contained in the newspaper the day after a game.

We thank every man or woman in uniform we see. Our 6 year old is SO into this - she tells them "Thank you for keeping us safe" and they love it.

We volunteer with a non-profit organization called TAPS - Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, which is a peer support network helping those who have lost a loved in active duty. We help plan their events, my husband has been on their board, and we volunteer at their national seminar every year over Memorial Day Weekend.

We also volunteer at our local VFW chapter monthly to help our veterans.
