Get him to talk about something he cares about. And then be a good listener. Be interested in him and what he is and what he has to say. He will become less nervous when he know's you are a trustworthy friend.

We all have our own insecurities about how we look, sound, think, etc. Men are no different from women in this regard. First off, you'll want him to feel comfortable around you when you're face to face. When you see him, give him a compliment right away to boost his self esteem (i.e., "You look great"). Then, look for some common ground to start talking about. Maybe talk about a new song on the radio or a show you both like on TV or a movie you want to see. Also, try to do something fun and low key together that will display his talents - if he's athletic, maybe go to batting cages. If he's into music, maybe suggest a free local concert - something that will show off his talents where he's in his own element - you'll see - you won't be able to shut him up!

You can also try the more direct route of asking him why he's shy when you're around each other if you think he's the type who takes well to direct and "friendly confrontation". You can then reassure him that you like him, think he's great and know you can both have a lot of fun together.

It sounds to me like he really likes you and he's just nervous - it's natural - we've all been there. Best of luck!

Ahhh, hes really into you. How cute. And of course he will get over it. He just needs to become comfortable around you in person.
