DU is only hazardous if enhaled in particle form.

I'm an ammunition expert. You aren't gonna get cancer from it unless you do a LOT of breathing around targets that have been hit with depleted uranium.

There are a lot of things that are radioactive such as coal, sunlight and radon gas which can be trapped in structures to the point where it becomes dangerous. There is depleted uranium, but chances are a soldier on foot patrol would be more likely to get skin cancer from the sun than from the shells.

Depleted Uranium is just that - depleted.

The people claiming that it is causing cancer are counting on the fact that you have never had a physics or chemistry classes.

Depleted uranium. Depleted means it isn't radioactive. It is used in armor-piercing shells only.

There is some speculative hysteria regarding the heavy metal properties of the uranium causing harm, but it is far from being proven.

Are you referring to depleted uranium? I could be wrong on this, but was told that it does emit alpha and beta particles, which can be stopped by your skin, and clothing, and that It could cause problems, if you were to eat it, or breathe in dust from it.
