'repent' means to turn away - turn around - go the other direction.

If you were headed north and you 'repented' - you would turn and go south.

Now . . . there is a problem that arises . . . the "flesh" wars against God (is at war with God) - the "flesh" beckons, calls, urges a person to return to the old ways . . . and this is practically impossible to resist . . . But God provides the Holy Spirit to the 'born again' person and the Holy Spirit makes the impossible, possible!

There is a lot in the new testament about 'fighting the good fight', and 'spiritual warfare' - the 'putting on the whole armor of God' - asking God to assist the believer - praying for one another, helping each other to carry our burdens, etc. . . .

The life of the Christian is not easy and is not for the squeamish!

Although being sorry for your sin is part of repentance, it alone is not.

Repentance is turning away from sin. If I am merely sorry for what I have done, yet later turn back to it, I haven't repented. Forsaking my sin, agreeing to its sinfulness, and committing to avoiding it in the future - that is repentance.

A good example is King David. He did the horizontal polka with a married woman (Bathsheba). Once he was confronted about his sin, he confessed it, and never did it again. That is repentance.

Can a person who has repented sin again? Yes, but the person's life is not characterized by it. They grow in Christ-likeness, not sinfulness.

The original Greek word was metanoia.
The word sin is actually a Greek archery term meaning to miss the mark.
To repent one must turn away from that activity or line of thinking.
The word implies a 180 degree turn.

Any sin from stealing, murder, lying, lust, imorality, fornication(sex out of marriage) disobaying your parents, backstabing, hate in your heart to anybody, ect you must take them to God and tell him how sorry you are and ask for forginvess. You go thought God's Son Jesus. You ask Jesus to forgive you and he will remmeber you sins no more, but do not go back to them and if you do you repent again but do not keep doing it thinking God will forgive me next time. If you know what you are doing then stop. God will nto be put to the test. You must invite Jesus in your life. That is the best thing I have ever donw was to invite Jesus in my life. Even amongst the trials he is there with me, I am not walking alone.

Basically, you have to ask God for forgiveness. You must pray, and think over what you did. I remember being little and having to go to confessions ( were we told our sins) and we had to repent after by doing whatever the priest said to pray ( like 2 our fathers and a hail mary). Overall, you must look what you did and how to stop yourself from doing it again. Oh, and pray, haha.

to be sorrowful for what you have done and turn away from it and do it no more..

but, as humans we will sin again because of our sinful nature. That is why Jesus died on the cross. His blood covered all our sins............that's where God's grace comes in.
