Is this normal? The after birth is gone but each of the 3 cats still have about an inch- 2 inches left on their umbilical cord. Will if just dry up and fall off its self, like a babies? If so is there anything i need to do as far as the care goes?
Also the first kitten had the after birth attached, then the other 2 kittens came. Shouldnt the after birth come at the very end when they have all been born?

They will eventually fall off. Puppies do it too.

The umbilical cord will come off on its on. It is not uncommon for the cord to be that long and mother nature takes care of that just like it does for human babies after the umbilical cord has been cut and tied. There is absolutely nothing that you could or in fact should do about this. Each kitten has its own after birth sac due to cats being able to produce offspring with more than one father each litter. Cats are one of the few animals that can do this. What you saw was the birth sac where mom chewed the kittens out of at birth. Since you only saw the sac on the first one you missed her chewing the sac open and eating this...this is what cats do....sorry. After the other kittens were born the mother must have eaten the sacs and the true afterbirth.

Each kitten is attached to a placenta (after-birth). So each kitten should have an after-birth right after he or she is born. Often you won't even see them because the mother will eat it. This is a natural behavior, meant to keep the scent from being picked up by would-be predators. It's said to help a mother produce nutritious milk.

Yes, it is normal for a bit of umbilical cord to be left, and it will dry up and fall off in a few days.

I don't think it will get infected but kittens can get umbilical cord hernias when something goes wrong with the umbilical cord sometimes. I think I would call a vet and ask them for information on this matter. Good luck.

Found dead kitten. Found small worms coming out of umbilical cord. Could siblings be infected? Only one week old.

this is normal. are they still with mum? because if they are then leave it to her, she will lick it off for them. and depending on how old they are...If it does not come off after about a week, take a wash cloth and warm water and very gently rub around it, you might have to do this for a couple of minutes for several days. do not force it off, just give it some time. also, if you take it into a vet, they can take care of it for you. hope this helps, Good Luck!
