Hard question to answer, because you don't say why you broke up. Generally speaking, I agree that totally cutting off your ex is generally the best way to go... but only if you are REALLY broken up and it is IRRECONCILABLE. If you just had a fight or got frustrated or fell on some bad times or he just made a mistake, you could be throwing away a good thing. People break up, then get back together all the time. Every relationship goes through difficult times, and that doesn't mean it can't work out. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. BUT... if you know in your heart that this guy is not the guy for you, then you'll be doing you AND him a big favor by moving on and letting him go. You are wise to be cautious, because a lot of people waste their time trying to make a relationship work that simply cannot work. So what to do? Time to do some soul searching. Think about what you like and don't like about the relationship and your ex. Talk to some family or friends of yours that know you well and get some feedback. Decide what is best for YOU. If you think it is worth giving the ex another chance, then go for it! If it works, then great! If not, then lesson learned and you can cut the guy off for good. If you know it simply will not work, though, then do what you have to do. It's a tough situation. I wish you luck!

It seems that you are no longer that interested in getting back together with your ex. The reason you're probably tempted is maybe because you miss him or you miss the company. It's only right to not talk to your ex right after a break up - it just confuses things.
Since you already wrote him a letter (assuming you've written everything you want to say), then there's really no point in talking about it anymore so when he calls next week maybe you can just reiterate what you said in the letter and hope that he understands and not force you to get back together with him. If he does, then let him down firmly. Tell him to move on because you are starting to do so too.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/sJqAp
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.

You should give it a break for a few months till things settle then if your goign to talk to him do it then not now. Right now things just happend and things need time to settle! i hope i help please let me know if i did.
